How tall are your plants? How many seed pods do you usually get?

So it’s my second year with milkweed. I bought 4 Asclepias Incarnata last year including two “Cinderella” cultivar because that’s what they had. And one Asclepias Tuberosa. Only the tuberosa flowered.

So this year everything flowered, and my largest Incarnata which has like 14 stalks and and is 54 inches tall from soil to tip on the tallest one. Is that very tall? Moreover, it also has 52 seed pods that seem to be maturing and a handful more that still might grow. My other 3 plants have like 5-6 seed pods each. Is that a lot? How tall do yours get and how many seed pods do you get?

Oh and I can’t really dig in the ground here because the maintenance people are careless and there are literally only 3 inches of soil on top of solid rock anyway, so don’t judge my container garden 😅
And the bamboo sticks are to keep it from flopping over when wind or rain is heavy, which was an issue this year.

And if you see My tuberosa didn’t make it but it had 2 seed pods and now I have 4 maturing plants (see the small black pots. I had 5 but one was dug up by an animal) and still more seeds to plant for this winter.

Monarch caterpillar on my tiny immature butterfly weed. Should I try to move it to my large swamp milkweeds?

I was planning on transplanting this to a bigger pot right this second and then I saw this. My very first monarch caterpillar I’ve seen on my plants.

I just want to keep it safe and it would break my heart if something happens to it like predators but I know it’s just the way nature is.

I’m concerned about the immature plant I grew from seed being devoured… but more so I’m worried about it not being the ideal food and it being such a small plant.

I have much larger swamp milkweeds (see second pic)

It’s going to rain today should I move it under my overhang?

[Partially Lost] Trading Spaces 2000-2007

So this was a very popular show in the 00s, and it is not officially available anywhere except a few episodes on DVD.

Someone made this post a couple of years ago, and they compiled a few YouTube video links. However, most of those no longer work…

I was able to find this link: https://youtube.com/watch?v=s9aT9Khh1XI on the wayback machine, but I can’t get it to play. Does anyone know how to do that if it’s even possible?

Does anyone have any of these formerly-found and available episodes archived somewhere? Know of any way to access the old YouTube videos?

EDIT: I did find a few episodes on the internet archive from the DVD collection compiled here, but there are hopefully more episodes out there.

Thank you.

[Fully Lost] “Certain Honorable Men” 1968 NBC made-for-TV movie written by Rod Serling

This is a 1968 film called Certain Honorable Men notably written by Rod Serling (The Twilight Zone), and it was made for TV. It aired on NBC on September 12 of that year, and was never released on home media or even broadcast ever again.

I’m a huge fan of Alexandra Isles (possibly still Moltke at the time).

It was apparently the first of five “On Stage” dramas shown by NBC that season.

The production was recorded on color Video tape. The running time was 95 minutes including commercials, airing from 9:30pm-11:05 EST.

Taken from this article on atvaudio.com about the film:

This video tape appears to have been wiped (erased) as so many television Quad tapes were erased and reused to record other television productions during the 1960's and 1970's…. The one and only time "CERTAIN HONORABLE MEN" aired on TV was on Sept. 12, 1968, on NBC. Subsequently, this production vanished from the cultural landscape. Despite its pedigree, "CERTAIN HONORABLE MEN" has essentially been lost to the sands of time. It was never been released on video, or as a DVD.

The teleplay has never been posted on You Tube. It is also difficult to even locate more than a single photo or the original artwork advertising this fascinating presentation adaptation to the television screen.”

Any bits or pieces you can find of this… stills, promotional material, sound recording (which apparently exists but I’m not sure if it’s available to the public, I can’t find it)

Laura Collins (1967) Story Arc Anomalies, Observations, and Ridiculous Questions

I love the Laura Collins story arc possibly the most. Rewatching it, I have questions. I did last time also, but even more this time and as I was going I got more questions.

Lore

My first observation was that the lifespan of the Phoenix dramatically changes over the course of these episodes.

Laura arrives and first tells the story about the Phoenix and indicates that it “goes on living for another 500 years” after it emerges from the ashes.

Later in the storyline, we find Laura Murdock Radcliffe and Laura Stockbridge, who died exactly 100 and 200 years earlier respectively. Indicating the Phoenix has a 100 year lifespan.

Presently, Laura has just burned in her apartment and been reborn mere days ago, and by the end of the storyline she’ll have done it again. Indicating the Phoenix has a 🤷 *shrug emoji* Willy Nilly Life Span.

Family

Another obvious glaring question is how does she have family?

We are told about her having family that have “long moved away” when she returns. How does she have parents (presumably biological ones in their 60s) if she is a magical being? Are the parents also Phoenixes or magic? Did they conceive another baby and Laura switched places like a changeling?

Age

Surely if Laura in 1967 grew up in Collinsport, people must have seen her… age? Or was she born a 35 year old woman?
Does a Phoenix age?
Does she have the ability to change her age?
Does being reborn have any effect on her appearance?
How is she in her 30’s if she dies every 100 years?
Is she periodically born as a baby?

David’s Role

If David is supposed to be the reincarnation of David Radcliffe, is he also 300+ years old?
Was there a David Stockbridge?
Will his children be Phoenixes?
Was Roger Collins or some iteration of him the father every time?

Laura Hospital stay

We are told early in the story that Laura is in a sanitarium. Presumably not voluntarily.
Why doesn’t anyone know she left?
Who was paying for it that hadn’t noticed returned checks or something?
How did she get to Phoenix Arizona when Laura and Roger lived in Maine and had only arrived at Collinwood months earlier?

Does anyone publish their own tabs on Ultimate Guitar? How do you format it? Do you mention it’s for dulcimer in the title?

There’s not much more to add. I’ve made a few arrangements of songs I like (not originals), and transcribed them and would like to share them such as on Ultimate Guitar, but they have dedicated “ukelele” etc tabs, but there isn’t one for Dulcimer, so in order to stick with the strict formatting rules on the site, how do you handle it?

Also, Typically I think dulcimer tabs are the opposite of guitar, with the low string being on the top row, but Ultimate Guitar says to always do it high to low string.

Does anyone publish tabs on there and what do you do?

What can I do to save my seedling? Transplant shock/heat

I transplanted this a week ago from a seed tray. That had been kept outside. It was getting big and the heat didn’t seem to be letting up anytime soon so I did it at night. But after I transplanted it, it seemed to kind of shrivel and turn purple.

Any advice? Is there any saving it? 😢

My first swamp milkweed seedling is finally growing!

So I cold sowed 48 cells of seeds in February. Wild Bergamot, Swamp Milkweed, and Butterfly Weed. Out of 18 cells and twice that many swamp milkweed seeds I had exactly ONE seedling germinate at all.

Conversely, my butterfly weed germinated great, but most of them didn’t survive. I’ve got 4-5 of them still standing.

But this one, the single survivor of my swamp milkweed seeds, I’m so happy it’s made it past the toughest stage. Now I have to up-pot it which I am worried about, but it should be okay right?

When to transplant Seedlings?

I’m in zone 6a, (New England) and I started these seeds in mid February, outdoors in covered trays.

I think they started popping up a little over a month ago. I’m worried the trays are too small and that’s why they aren’t growing more yet.

All of the swamp milkweed seeds failed except one (first pic) and it seems to have another leaf coming out of the middle. The butterfly weed seeds that I harvested myself did very well at first but some have since wilted and they don’t seem to be making progress after I clipped the extra seedlings. (Second pic - before I clipped one of them).

I had read that you should wait until they have multiple “true leaves” before transplanting, but I’m worried that they just won’t grow more in these tiny cells?

So do I wait for more growth or transplant now? How much longer to wait?
