Achilles' advice on virtue.

At that moment, the valiant soul of divine Achilles rose at his son’s bedside; he seemed to be still alive, just as in the days when he was the terror of the Trojans and the joy of the Achaeans. He embraced his son’s neck and half-open eyes, and softly said to him:

Greetings, my child! Do not afflict your heart with the thought of my death; I am the table-companion of the blessed gods. Cease then to weep for me, and keep within your soul only the ardor of a warrior. Always march ahead of the Argives, yield to no one the glory of courage; but in the assembly, show deference to the elders, so that all may praise your good sense.

Honor honest and wise men: for the good man loves the good man, and the wicked man loves the wicked man. If you take the side of honest people, you will lead an honest life. One does not achieve virtue without a righteous mind; virtue is a tree whose summit is difficult to reach, for its branches touch the heavens; but those who possess strength and courage can obtain its fruits through their efforts, and reach the glory that crowns it.

Be courageous and wise; let misfortune not break you, let prosperity not blind you. Be good to your friends, your children, your wife; remember that men are never far from the gates of death and the house of the Fates; they are like the flowers of the fields, the flowers of spring—some die, while others are born.

Be ever good, then, and go remind the Argives, but especially the Atride Agamemnon, if they have not forgotten me, what labors I accomplished around the city of Priam, and what booty I amassed as a reward before landing there. In return, I wish and desire above all things that Polyxena of the beautiful peplos be set aside for me in the division of the spoils, and that she be sacrificed to my memory. I am more angered against the Danaans than I was over Briseis; I will stir up the waters of the sea, I will rouse storm after storm, I will punish them for their forgetfulness, and I will condemn them to remain upon this shore until the day they offer me libations to favor their return. When they have sacrificed the young girl, they may bury her not far from me—to this I consent.

After all, we all need good advice from dady, even if he is demanding in return.Thank you Achilles, we all needed this.

Shoubunkun is often disrespected, but there was a time when he was truly someone.

That was before he had a burnout
