Happy Owner Asking Real EV Range
Hi everyone, I’ve been a very happy owner of a Toyota C-HR Plug-in for a couple of months now.
I’ve noticed that the electric range is really impressive. Driving only on extra-urban roads outside the city (50–70 km/h for around 70–80% of the journey), I managed to get exactly 100 km on electric power. That’s crazy compared to the roughly 66 km of range officially declared!
I wanted to see if you’re experiencing similar figures, or at least better-than-average electric range, or whether my results were heavily influenced by the route. The first 50 km were a round trip, so elevation changes shouldn’t have had much of an impact. The other 50 km were in a single direction and I’d say the route was basically flat, although perhaps even small differences can have a significant effect.
As for fuel consumption, even with the battery depleted, I’m getting around 25–27 km/l based on what I’ve noticed from tank to tank, with roughly 15% city driving, 55% extra-urban roads, and 30% motorway driving.
This week I’ll try driving exclusively on the motorway, keeping my speed between 110 and 130 km/h, to see how many kilometres I can manage purely in EV mode. It will definitely be much less, but I’m very curious to see the results. Regarding the latter scenario, do you have any data you can share?
