Hey all,
I’m building a garage with my dad and it’s going swimmingly given our limitations. We are getting prepared to side with LP smart side panels. We want to use a nail gun, but I’m getting mixed answers from my online research on what gun to use. I know that specialized siding guns exist, but I’d like to avoid buying a gun I’ll never use again (already going broke from this project 😭).
I see people use framing nailers, but I’m concerned about marring the surface or overdriving. My dad originally wanted to use staples but I vetoed. Installation instructions require hot dipped galvanized nails with a 0.092-0.113” shank diameter that penetrate the studs by 1.5” minimum. We don’t have the time to hand nail everything. I’ve also seen some people use screws, but that seems just as time consuming as hand nailing.
Any advice on how I can use my existing tools? Adaptors, methods, etc?
Looking forward to moving on to the next challenge after setting these 30ft trusses. I’m learning so much from my dad but some of the materials we are using he is unfamiliar with and I want to do this right.
Thank you in advance!
