Title: Newborn residence permit - non-EU student family in Denmark, financial requirement

Hi everyone,
We are expecting our baby towards the end of this year. I am a non-EU master’s student in Denmark, and my spouse is here with me as my accompanying family member.

I checked the SIRI website and it seems that for a newborn’s residence permit, we may need to document around 89,000 DKK in funds. Honestly, we cannot afford to have that much money available, even if both of us are working part-time after the baby is born.

I would really appreciate advice from anyone who has been in a similar situation as a non-EU student with a newborn in Denmark.

Is the financial requirement definitely applicable in our situation?

How long after the baby is born do we have to apply for the baby’s residence permit?

Is there any alternative to showing the full amount?
Can we wait a few months after the birth until we have enough savings?

Has anyone successfully handled this situation without having the full amount available?

We are quite worried about this because the pregnancy is already far along, and obviously termination is not an option at this stage.

I would really appreciate hearing from people who have actually been through the same situation in Denmark. Thank you.

New to PD3 at Sprogcenter – When does the first module test usually happen?

Hi everyone 😊

I hope your PD2 and PD3 exams went really well today. My prayers are with all of you 🤍

I’m completely new here and I recently got admission into PD3 at Sprogcenter. Honestly, I don’t know much yet, so I wanted to ask for some guidance from people who already started their PD3 journey.

When did your first module test happen after starting PD3?
Do you think it’s possible to give the first module test before summer vacation if someone has just started now?

I would really appreciate if you could share:

• How long it took before your first module test
• What kind of questions they asked
• How you prepared for it
• Was it difficult in the beginning?
• And honestly, is 1.5 years enough to complete PD3 successfully?

I would be very thankful for any advice, experience, or tips from you guys 🙏

Info - 5 weeks pregnant after my first IUI and feeling really anxious 😭

Today I spent around 4 hours at the pool, did some swimming, took 2 water slides and a bit of jumping before realizing maybe I overdid it. Since coming home I’ve been feeling a pulling/stretching sensation sometimes on the left side and sometimes on the right side. No bleeding, no severe cramps, just this constant pulling feeling.

I’m around 5 weeks pregnant, on Cyclogest, and this is my first ever pregnancy after fertility treatment so I think I’m panicking about every little thing.

Has anyone experienced similar pulling sensations in early pregnancy after activity/swimming? Was everything okay?

Master’s Thesis in Public Health at SDU – How Did You Start & What Do You Recommend?

Hi everyone,

I’m currently doing my Master’s at University of Southern Denmark in Public Health, and I wanted to ask how you guys started working on your thesis.

How did you choose your topic and supervisor? Did you start with a research idea first, or find a professor/project first?

I’ve heard that in Denmark it can be difficult and time-consuming to get IRB/ethical approval for studies involving participants or data collection. Because of that, I’m wondering what most students usually do.

Would you recommend doing:

  • a systematic review/literature review,
  • register-based research,
  • qualitative interviews,
  • or something else?

Also, has anyone here published their master’s thesis as a paper afterward? How difficult was the process, and how long did it take
