Is it standard to garnish a black forest cake with fresh cherries without removing the stems and pits? Or is it mostly only done to look nice in photos and not to actually serve to people?
Making a black forest cake for a family friend. Most examples I see online garnish with whole cherries but every time I’ve actually eaten/seen one irl it’s just had cherries without the stems (like maraschino ones) but may be because I’ve never had properly fancy ones. I want it to look good as it’s for a party but I’m anxious about serving something with something not 100% edible on it. Is it normal/expected when ordering a black forest cake that each person will have to remove the cherry from their slice before eating?
(She gave me a list of cakes she likes but asked for the one I picked to be a surprise, so I can’t ask her which way she’d prefer)
Sorry if it’s a dumb question but I have anxiety and am (probably irrationally) worried that someone will try and eat it whole and choke or something
