Nobody should want to travel back in time to visit Pompeii

Herculaneum had a much better view.

Vesuvius was a very flat mountain at the time of the eruption. Pompeii was on a river and was more of a commercial harbor view. Herculaneum sat directly on a beachfront terrace looking straight out over the clear waters of the Bay of Naples.

Herculaneum was also much closer to the volcano, so the view from there would have been far more dramatic. Being on the western side, they would have seen the initial explosive column rising right before their eyes. Pompeii, being further away to the southeast, was a more oblique view.

Long Shot but looking for a song from 2000-2003

I know I bought this CD at McLanahan's. The chorus of the song was "here come the lions. Nothing gonna stand in our way". The only other major line i really remember is "best Penn State team since 1994" The song has a kind of upbeat, pop kinda feel to it.

I have been looking for this for years.

I figured i have nothing to lose by asking. Thanks

I have decided to remove myself from all relationships

I originally wrote this after my mother asked when I was going to get a girlfriend. I knew that I couldn't explain it properly without becoming extremely emotional. I have gone over this multiple times. I've been considering this for about a year so far.

My only 3 friends suggest that this is a mistake and that I should just keep looking. I'll "find someone eventually". I have had a grand total of 6 relationships since high school. I'm 43. None of those relationships even lasted a year. I have never celebrated the holidays (Thanksgiving to New Year's) with any kind of partner.

I have thought about this situation very logically and completely, and I have decided that dating is just not worth the costs, penalties, or risks involved. The benefits received or socially implied such as: emotional connection, physical contact, and support are minimal if present at all. I have used multiple means to meet people, including dating apps, speed dating, group meetups, and various other resources in the local area and on the internet. These meetups have produced no dates, no friendships, no shared interests, and no connections.

Throughout my life, every romantic relationship I have ever had after high school has been a source of deep pain, following the same devastating pattern: partners leaving abruptly with little warning, often instantly replacing me or pivoting to new commitments, which has left me feeling used, neglected, and abandoned. My last relationship ended when I discovered texts that made it undeniable I was being used and the person did not care for me at all, and I was so absolutely broken by that realization that they just had to walk away immediately. By now, I have fully accepted this and am moving on. I am not heartbroken right now, but I have made the firm, reasoned decision not to get involved in romantic relationships again.

Please understand this is not a request for sympathy or for help finding a partner, but merely a statement of the logical facts I am trying to impart.

Am I being stupid? This all is very thought out and I can explain my reasoning behind everything, but do I need to keep trying? At what point do you stop playing a game that you never win?
