Wanted to let you know the Premodern scene has been growing rapidly in Phoenix Arizona, This started as me just trying to find a few people to play with as i was unhappy with the direction of magic and never in my wild dreams did i think it would go this well. So thank you to everyone that has made this possible. We have been having a consistent 12-14 people come out every Tuesday for our free-to-play Premodern nights. I had a semi popular post a few weeks ago about building a stable of ready to play proxy premodern decks to help build a community. Now the proxies are not the only reason this is successful but they have helped a lot! We had 14 players turn out to our 4th meetup! Having ready to play decks really helps spread a more niche format!

I have been experimenting with making short clips to get people into premodern here in Arizona anyone else do anything else like this? I have a fleet of gias cradles and rystic studies and such to give to commander players so that they will hopefully show interest in what magic once used to be.

Realized there was a real need in my area for some premodern. Spoiler I was the one in need lol. Built this kit to try to build a community near me and it’s working out well. Anyone else have tips and tricks they used to build a community for a niche format.

Being able to put together the best of the best meta decks and loan them out to people without fear of them being stolen has helped me gather new players for the format I love. I started my proxy journey about 2 months ago just wanting to relive some of that nostalgia. I soon learned that the community has changed into almost a monoformat commander pod. Being able to put these proxies together myself have them have rich colors and the feel of a real card while sleaved has allowed me to start building a small community that is excited to play with these old cards we love so much!
