Do you often feel afraid of being banned, out of place, or judged when posting in a specific Reddit community?

Hi everyone.

I’m relatively new to Reddit, and I’ve just realized that whenever I decide to post a community related to my special interests or where I can talk about my experiences, I do so fearing that I’ll be out of place, banned, or judged.

Community rules aren't always 100% clear, and there are some groups where autistic people may be in the minority and have members and moderators who likely won't understand my true intentions.

There are posts where I went so far as to include a note apologizing in advance, for fear that I might be doing something wrong. I might even be doing it wrong right here!

Does anyone else here experience this feeling?

Autistic from Andorra here ♾️ 🇦🇩 – turns out my brain wavelength matches Aussie humor (and music) perfectly. Seeking online friends!

Hi everyone, 👋🏻

I’m an autistic woman from Andorra (a tiny country in Europe), and I’m looking to connect and make some online friends over here.

Over time, I’ve realized that I connect incredibly well with Australians. Your sense of humor— being deadpan, ironic, and totally direct —just clicks perfectly with my autistic brain. To be honest, I often feel like I must have lived in Australia in a past life (I could have been a cat 🐱), because the culture and the way you communicate feel so much like "home" to me. 🏠 🇦🇺

I find that Aussies are often the most empathetic and the least judgmental English-speaking people when I share my experiences.

Music is also a massive part of my life. Music 🎵 🎶 I’m a huge Sheerio (Ed Sheeran’s bond with Australia is legendary, right?), Sia is one of my absolute favourite female singers, and I’m slightly obsessed with Vance Joy to the point where I literally wake up with "Riptide" playing on loop in my head some mornings.

Since I can’t exactly pop over for a coffee due to the distance (and the time difference!), I’d love to chat here, exchange memes, talk about music, or just share some quality banter.

Feel free to drop a comment or send a DM!

Cheers! 🙂

P.S. I have visual disabilities, so if you see symbols and emojis in the wrong place or typos such as 'Aistralia', "Twotter" or 'Califirnia', just assume my keyboard is on an adventure.

Ableism and extreme behaviorism in a single post!

I'm not sure if this is the most appropriate place, but I'd like to share my outrage as an autistic and disabled woman at this six-year-old post I just saw promoting ableism and conditional affection education in kids.

According to this user, if a child doesn't please their parents or has any neurodivergence, disability, or mental health issue that affects their behavior, they deserve to be abandoned in one of those profit-driven businesses known as "orphanages" that employ, with IMPUNITY, "parenting" methods that include neglect, isolation, sedation, physical restraint, forced early autonomy, forced social and ideological training, deprivation of affection, punishment for expressing feelings, rape, and physical and psychological violence.

For them, these rigid and outdated "standards" from communist Romania must be preserved because he believes that "non-people pleaser" children don't deserve an environment that respects their natural pace of development and provides affection, emotional support, and individualized and personalized care adapted to their specific needs (personal preferences, health issues, neurodivergence, disabilities, etc.). In other words, he considers these luxuries that children have to earn through compliance and not UNIVERSAL rights supported by psychology and organizations such as the UN and UNICEF.

Another user commented then that these children's behaviors are acquired and that they‘re not to blame for their disabilities, neurodiversity, or mental health problems, but the person who made the original post responded that they still deserve to be separated from their families and live under a "childcare" system based on communist Romania because they wouldn't contribute to society. Something tells me that this user's grandfather was named Iósif or Adolf.

Australian summer ⛱️🌞; the global summer standard since the mid-2010s (and perhaps earlier) 😜

SURCE: I experienced it myself in Andorra 🇦🇩 (my country) and in countries such as Spain 🇪🇸 and Portugal 🇵🇹.

El sistema SMOWL y la falsa inclusión

Hola a tod@s.

How does Ed’s music impact your neurodivergence or disability?

Hello fellow Sheerios! 👋 ♥️

As an autistic fan with visual and hearing disabilities, Ed Sheeran’s music is a huge part of my life and comfort. It has been one of my special interests since I was 13 years old and something that helped me not to lose hope in my most difficult moments.

So I’m curious to know: are there any other neurodivergent or disabled fans here? How does Ed’s music, lyrics, or concerts impact your life or help you cope?

I’d love to read your experiences and know that I’m not alone in this amazing fandom! 😌
