Guest list dilemma

We’re inviting approximately 100 guests to our wedding which is September 2027, got a while to go but some family will be attending from the USA so save the dates went out already.

I am only inviting a small selection of my family from the USA because we want to keep the numbers down but also because I am a woman marrying a woman and some of them are homophobic. In particular my aunts husband. However this aunt is someone I was very close to growing up and very close with my dad so he really wants me to invite her which I have along with her sister my other aunt.

Originally it was presented to them as having very limited numbers but that I wanted my two aunts to be in attendance (implying my homophobic uncle definitely can’t come, not that he probably would but I just wanted to make extra sure).

The dilemma now is my dad wants me to invite my second aunts partner, who I have met a few times and I’m more than willing for her to bring her plus one especially as she’s travelling so far but I’m so worried about offending my first aunt that she isn’t offered a plus one because, again her very homophobic husband who is also racist and overall a person with disgusting beliefs.

I almost didn’t invite his wife as well because of this but she is so close to my dad, I have lovely childhood memories of her and my parents are paying for the wedding so she definitely will be invited. I just don’t want to offend her.
Any advice?

AITA for not going to my homophobic in laws bbq?

My (26f) girlfriend (27f) is upset with my for not going to her aunt and uncles bbq yesterday. I stayed home and didn’t go because they are very religious and believe being gay is a sin and wrong and they said they will not come to our wedding. They also had guests staying from their church. My girlfriend said she understood and I didn’t have to come. Now one day later she’s crying because I should’ve gone to stand by her side and expose them to more gay people to normalize it for them. She uses an example of when she went with her mum to the homophobic church for a weekend as supporting her mum to make her happy and put her mums feelings first even though she’s her gay daughter going to a homophobic church. I would never put myself in that situation and didn’t want to do the bbq situation either. I felt bad but she assured me it’s okay and not to feel bad but now she’s changed because I should’ve put her feelings first. She started crying after she saw something on Facebook saying “if they’re the right person you don’t have to convince them”.

I feel so guilty but I don’t think I should’ve been forced to break my boundaries. I even told her if it was just her aunt and uncle there I might have gone but not with the people visiting. Her and her mum are always saying they’re nice and they won’t say anything homophobic etc but I still know they’re judging me and think my life is wrong and I feel hurt by the fact that they said no to our wedding. They’re the ones that rejected me first in a way so it feels so u fair that I’m being blamed for not going. However I do understand that being in a relationship means you should support them and she clearly feels like I should’ve put my own feelings aside to support her.

We both ended up crying about it while we both tried to explain our sides, she said she did understand and was okay with me not going at first but now after thinking about it she’s not. I’m confused and just feel so down tbh.

London bridal shops I could try on dresses like this?

I haven’t tried on any dresses yet but am super excited about have a fun day with my mum and sister trying things on to figure out exactly what it is I want as I’m not too sure! It’s something I’ve always looked forward too.

However I’m having more of a laid back wedding at the town hall followed by a nice reception at a pub, and I am not a fan of all the super structured or ballgowny sparkly type of dresses. In fact I’ve sort of fallen for the idea of a slip dress type wedding dress in satin or silk (see a couple inspo pics) but looking on bridal shops websites I rarely see dresses like this! I also don’t want to break the bank with my wedding dress, just something I feel really beautiful in. Any ideas of where I could try on dresses like this? The ones in the pictures are sold online only.

Not having bridesmaids, will friends be offended?

My and my partner have just booked our reception venue for our wedding next year 🥳 I’m so excited!
But we’re not having a massive wedding, just a small town hall ceremony with immediate family and maybe a couple of close friends followed by a bigger reception where we’ll invite around 100 people.
Based on just having a small town hall marriage I thought there isn’t really a point to having bridesmaids, it would be weird having people standing in the town hall next to me when there won’t be many even in attendance. I have asked my sister to be my maid of honor but I’m worried my closest two friends might feel offended that I didn’t ask them to be bridesmaids?
Are there any other ways I can make them feel special in the wedding or in preparing for it? I do love them but just don’t really want them to have to wear specific colour or matching dresses or anything.

Where do I start to maximize the money I’m making? Is stoozing worth it?

I’m 26 and not particularly financially savvy but I’m tired of feeling scared all the time financially and want to plan and start building something for the future.

I’ve been lucky and own a flat and am paying mortgage which is a good start over renting in London and I save 800£ per month from my paycheck. I have only saved £8k since starting as I had some things crop up that I had to pay for and right now It’s in the highest savings accounts I could find.

I earn 38k only but am doing PhD part time and in 2 years when I graduate that hope to get a higher paying job but that’s 2 years away.

I just started stoozing but obviously it’s not really going to make me that much but something is better than nothing and I don’t feel I have a big enough safety net to start investing in stocks and shares isa or anything yet.

With my savings habits hopefully it will build quickly but not really sure how to maximize? What advice would you give someone like me?

Recs for London parks

I’m proposing to my girlfriend in a few weeks just before our 2 year anniversary. The main thing i want for the proposal which would make her happy is for there to be noons else around and romantic. I was thinking of having a picnic in a park and proposing there. I even have a mutual friend who will secretly be there to take pictures. However the weather in the uk being so hot all the parks are gonna be busy (assuming mid June says hot which it probably will). I love is SW London and was wondering if anyone had any recommendations where we might find a nice spot? I want to start planning it with the photographer as the planned day is coming up quick :) I’m so excited

Those that had a small wedding and a bigger reception, what made it work?

My and my partner don’t really want a big ceremony, we’d rather it felt intimate with only close family and friends, not extended family even. But we’d love a big party afterwards with everyone we love. Would this offend people that are only invited to the reception or would it be ok?
At the end of the day we want the wedding to be how we want it and not to please other people.

Those that did something like this, how did you structure the wedding and reception? How long was the reception after the micro ceremony? Did you have a wedding breakfast?

Literally any thoughts or experiences would be so so helpful!!
