Road noise at 55+MPH(video)

Hi everyone,

I have a 2021 Subaru Crosstrek with 102,000 miles, and I’ve recently started noticing an intermittent noise that seems to be coming from the front passenger side while driving on the freeway.

A few details:

All four tires have about 50% tread remaining.

Tire pressure is 35 PSI on all four tires.

Tire wear appears even.

The vehicle tracks straight when I let go of the steering wheel.

The noise only occurs at speeds above approximately 55 mph.

It happens on various freeway surfaces, but it’s intermittent.

It occurs while driving normally within the lane and not while crossing pavement markers or Botts’ dots.

If I lightly tap the brakes or make a slight steering correction, the noise stops immediately but usually returns a couple of seconds later.

Here’s a video of the sound:

You may need headphones to hear it clearly.

I believe the issue started shortly after my most recent oil change and tire rotation.

I can take it back to the dealer, but they charge a $150 diagnostic fee, and since the noise only occurs at freeway speeds, it’s not the easiest problem to demonstrate. Before I go that route, I was hoping to get some ideas from the community. If any suggestions seem plausible, I can ask the dealer or a local mechanic to inspect those specific items.
One suggestion I received was to verify that all lug nuts are properly torqued, which I plan to check next.

Any thoughts on what else I should look at?

Thanks!

Upgraded last parent domain controller, now have replication issues

Hi,

We have a parent domain and five child domains, and I’ve been upgrading all of our domain controllers to a newer OS without any issues up until now.

Yesterday, I replaced the final domain controller, and I’m now seeing some replication issues when forcing replication from the forest root servers.
Normally after these upgrades, I go through DNS forward/reverse lookup zones and Sites and Services to remove stale entries.

While troubleshooting, I noticed that on a few domains, the forward lookup zone for the parent domain is configured to “Replicate to all DNS servers in this domain only.” As a result, those zones contain a lot of outdated/stale records because they haven’t been receiving updates from the parent domain.
I’m trying to determine the best way to proceed. Should I manually update the existing records with the correct hostnames/IPs?

For example, when I ping the parent domain from one of the affected child domain servers, it still resolves to the last parent DC that I recently demoted.
Earlier, when I ran forest-wide replication tests, everything appeared healthy. My assumption is that although the other two parent DCs had already been demoted, replication checks were still resolving against this final server while it was online.

If I change the DNS replication scope on the child DCs to forest-wide replication, will the child domain pull the updated data from the parent domain, or is there a risk that the child copies could overwrite the parent zone data?

Hope that makes sense. Any guidance would be appreciated.

How good could Joe Bradley have been in the NFL?

If he fully committed to football instead of going back home, how good do you think he could’ve been? The show made him seem like this perfect franchise QB type. He had that calm leadership vibe like Tom Brady, the wholesome image of Peyton Manning, and the small-town golden boy thing like Joe Montana.

Are we talking solid NFL starter, Pro Bowler, Hall of Famer, or Brady/Montana territory?

Got emailed back from company recruiter showing interest

So I recently worked with a resume writer to update my resume. As part of the process, he had me send over a job posting I’d realistically be interested in, and we ended up applying to it together during a Zoom call.

On paper, I think the role is a strong match for my background. The downside is the commute isn’t ideal — probably around 30–35 minutes compared to the 10-minute drive I have now — and the top end of the salary range is about $15k below what I’m ultimately looking for. That said, it would still be around $8k more than I currently make.

I just got an email from the company’s recruiting team wanting to schedule an initial call to discuss the position.

Part of me thinks I should absolutely pursue it, even if only for interview practice and to get more comfortable putting myself out there. But at the same time, if they actually extend an offer, I feel like I’m going to be in a weird spot mentally.

For context, I’m currently employed and there’s essentially zero risk of me losing my current job since I’m effectively the solo admin. However, about 3–4 weeks ago I submitted a compensation adjustment request through my manager and haven’t heard anything back. I know my manager didn’t forget about it, so my assumption is that it either got rejected or deprioritized because the company has historically been pretty cheap with compensation. That situation is what pushed me to finally update my resume and start looking around in the first place.
