Lawyers on TL, how would you advise someone who's arrested because of mistaken identity to get off the hook?

My firestick goes black immediately after powering on. Now, I can't reset and pair my replacement remote. How do I go about this?

Juzi my gearbox spoiled (Subaru forester SF-9), the first mechanic I contacted to replace the engine disassembled the engine and left out parts scattered after the first gearbox replacement went south. The second gearbox was installed successfully, but the problem is one little pipe left open on the engine manifold. This mechanic inserted a spark plug to 'seal' this pipe. When left open, RPM goes way up, car consumes crazy amount of fuel. When sealed with the plug, rpm returns to 2000rpm but goes up when the car is in motion. Either way, the car's consumption is high. What could be this pipe? My mechanic ameshindwa kujua the ideal place where the pipe should be connected...he just 'sealed' it with the plug...
