Player Ratings: AVL 4 - 2 LIV

Trigger warning: Suicide

  1. Ngumoha takes MOTM
  2. Van Dijk with two goals
  3. Szobo with two assists
  4. Kerkez
  5. Gomez

In the free response venting section of the form, I saw a few people making allusions to depression, suicide, and dying, more than the usual numbness to the results, and to everybody reading this, please take care of yourself.

14.8% of you said you would die if it meant Arne Slot got out.

As someone once said, football is the most important of the least important things in life. Take a breath, go outside, talk to a friend. I'd be down to talk in Daily Discussion once in a while.

Please don't let your mental health get destroyed by our bad season. I know it's not really my place to tell anyone how to feel about anything, but you are not alone.

FT: AVL 4 - 2 LIV

^(42' Rogers (Digne), 57' Watkins (Rogers), 73' Watkins, 89' McGinn (Watkins))
^(52' Van Dijk (Szoboszlai), 90+2' Van Dijk (Szoboszlai))

Surely he has to go in the summer.

1 win away from securing UCL football next season. One spot left. One game left.

Then we'll never see some of our favorite players at the club again.

[Ben Jacobs] Liverpool have no plans to complete a summer review into Arne Slot's position at the club, with the Dutchman not under pressure to be sacked

Despite the poor season, owners Fenway Sports Group have no plans to conduct a review into Slot's position, with the Dutchman expected to be in the dugout when the new 2026/27 season begins. GMS senior football correspondent Ben Jacobs said:

>I don't even think this narrative of Liverpool reassessing in the summer necessarily has that much credence regarding Arne Slot's future. The position, speaking to Liverpool sources, is clear and has been for quite some time, that Liverpool and FSG back Arne Slot and they've got a big summer ahead, and this idea that they're going to have a review at the end of the season and may U-turn on that position is downplayed by sources.

>What now can change between today and the end of the season? Liverpool are highly likely to get Champions League football, that's the best they can do, and it's been clear for quite some time, so any review doesn't need to wait until the summer. There's ongoing dialogue and feedback, and Arne Slot is part of the summer planning, and it'll be a huge U-turn, an unexpected situation, if FSG and Liverpool's leadership team suddenly get to the summer and go, now the season's ended, we've got a different perspective.

>The main reason why Arne Slot is backed is because there are seen as mitigating circumstances to this season. It was obviously a tragic and horrible and sad summer with the passing of Diogo Jota and his brother Andre Silva. When you add to that, the mass change with Jeremie Frimpong coming in and seeing himself as a starter, the same for Milos Kerkez, same for Florian Wirtz, same for Hugo Ekitike, same for Alexander Isak. That can be challenging because even though some of those players have been in and out due to injury, you build a scenario where 50% of your starting XI are relatively new players, or are brand new signings. Mo Salah was very unhappy very early in the season, that's a factor as well, so Liverpool just haven't clicked.

>But Liverpool are slowly building, and the feeling remains that stability and chemistry between these new signings and likely two attackers/wingers can make a big, big difference. Liverpool want to stick with Arne Slot, they haven't forgotten that he won the Premier League in his first season. I know some Liverpool fans will argue that was a Jurgen Klopp legacy and there are a lot of Liverpool fans that are not backing Slot at the moment, but FSG don't share that sentiment, and this is why there's been no talks with Xabi Alonso yet, despite reports.

I'm sure this'll go down well with everybody in the sub...

Some small clarifications have been inserted below some questions, I'm assuming a few people joined the subreddit relatively recently or just started to fill out the questions.

For the Liverpool vs Real Madrid contrast question, you mostly said Real Madrid's problem is player ego, our problem is a lack of identity. They've got the toxic divas but greater talent, we've got bad tactics but better character.

Ngumoha 2nd, Jones 3rd, Kerkez 4th, Gakpo 5th, Woodman 6th.

Almost 60% are not excited for the summer. Was hoping it would be better than the spring…

u/DragonSlayer271 — 17 days ago

That’s both Manchester clubs doing the double over us, the last time we had let two teams do that was in Klopp’s first season…

Top 5 is almost secured. 4 points until then. 3 games left. 2 UCL spots remaining. 1 month left. And then it’s over.
