Anyone else played around with EMStudio in FreeCAD?

I just downloaded it today and it seems like a pretty great implementation of what its going for....

(that being to allow you to model your geometry in FreeCAD, set up your ports and mesh entirely through the FreeCAD GUI, and solve for your EM results you want)

After playing around with scripting for OpenEMS and being a little disheartened with how cumbersome it is as an HFSS user seeking a Free Open Source alternative for hobby projects it honestly seems like an ideal solution.

Apparently it only dropped like 3 weeks ago as well!

Anyone else checked it out?

It uses a ton of different solvers to do different tasks....Palace, OpenEMS, a few others....

The GitHub page descriptions are written by Claude....seems a bit strange but cant really write it off just because of that..found some forums and people seem to have gotten real results....will do some of my own tonight

Edit: found this forum post

https://forum.freecad.org/viewtopic.php?style=2&p=900323

Which has some discussion but it links to a "website" of the creator which is entirely AI generated slop.......so this makes me a bit distrustful.......try it yourself and see if any of it works

Solar Craft and Lore, Re-Ordered(repost of the repost....Google drive should work....)

Hello my esteemed fellow Exalted 3e enthusiasts!

I come to you today with a bit of work several others have asked me to post publicly so as to share it with more that may find it useful!

I long bemoaned the status of Craft and Lore for Solars in Core, and after both Infernals and Abyssals came out I decided to do something about it!

Attached with the Google drive link at the bottom you will find my take on a revision to both trees in question!

I aimed to incorporate much of the mechanical and organizational advancement offered by the release of the later Solaroids, as well as to greatly reduce overall bloat of the trees, while still having them resemble the spirit of the the genuinely good part of their original versions.

I believe I was greatly successful at doing both. (Though if you disagree I invite you to leave feedback on this post, as I am always interested in hearing it)

I believe as far as bloat reduction goes (including keys as they are purchased) i reduced Craft by about 55% and Lore by about 45%.

(I cant remember the precise figures and can't be bothered to count at the moment)

I think i could have pared away from Craft more in hindsight, but what still exists some may view as extraneous I have endeavored to make optional so that they may be ignored as a matter of taste.

A couple of the juicier highlights aside from the various smaller changes to every charm or the deletion/combination of many others:

A new Craft capstone charm that allows use of N/A dot or 5 dot artifacts before they are finished.

A Wyld Shaping technique that is shamelessly taken from 3E infernals, though I hope to add on an additional key that gives Solars something more unique!

As I said please read and give feedback! Im very interested to hear what the broader community has to say!

I would say I am unlikely to give similar trees of Core the same treatment simply because I dont think its warranted in the same manner it was for these 2 trees....which are fairly disastrous. The rest of the trees are quite easily adjustable on the fly by a competent play group.

(Replace "_dot_" with "." Due to annoying and I suspect vile reasons, reddit has banned mega links directly in DMs.....i dont know if the ban extends to public posts but I altered it to not get kicked out by the spam filter here as well)

Has anyone ever had to calibrate a system where you need coax for one port and a GSG probe for the other port? how do you properly construct the calibration? The Thru measurements being the most challenging?

Is there some way to reasonably merge say the calibration standards from a 1.0 mm calibration kit for the coax , the planar Open/Short etc. standards for the probe on a given substrate, and to design and characterize a thru board with land pads for the probe leading to a coax connector on some substrate that you can use for the thru to yield a full calibration?

The application is for proper calibration for optoelectric S parameter measurements for Photodiode die. (the side that's coax is connected to a modulator that then has an optical output that goes through a fiber which is coupled to the active area of the photodiode through some fixturing, etc.)

Ive had experience running some Vampire, Exalted, and a little bit of Mage and would like to give W20 a try with my good friends.

They range from being somewhat aware of Vampire and a rudimentary grasp of the dice rolling to being reasonably familiar with WoD as a whole and having some system knowledge.

I myself am hardly a Werewolf loremaster but I like to think I know more than most.

What kind of story should I write to introduce them to the game and the world of the Garou?

I was thinking perhaps I could do a short intro of each player covering their first change and then have the main story be them coming together on a quest to pass their intro rite into the Garou nation?

Maybe the mission is taking down a local recently acquired Pentex chemical company subsidiary run by a Fomori in order to free a local Gaian spirit/stop their immediate poisoning of the local waterways?

Im an engineer who works with E&M frequently and the examples of this ive seen just havent been good enough for me to understand how and why we can do this..... for say a dent in a waveguide cross section or a nail driven into the wall of a cavity resonator for instance.

Is there any source you guys can recommend that tackles this topic a bit more comprehensively?
