What is this plank above my gutter?

Bought the house about 9 months ago. The back roof has what looks like a length of soffit above the guttering, perpendicular to the roof. Any idea why?

Scaffolding up as we’ve just had solar fitted. I’m considering removing this plank, before they take the scaffolding down.

Annexe building - granny flat

Hi group

We’ve recently moved house, and the property (in Suffolk) has an annexe building which is at least 20 years old. It was used as a therapy studio for alternative therapies. It has two rooms, a WC, a shower room, power and heating. (The shower room even has a flotation room within)

There was no evidence of PP for this during the searches. Would enough time have passed now for this to retrospectively be granted? What’s that process called?

And could this building be used as living accommodation, eg a granny annexe or for a live-in au pere? Noting there are no kitchen facilities (but could be).

Would really appreciate your advice. Thanks

Why does Renault app think data services have been disconnected?

My Renault app, all of a sudden today decided that Data Sharing has been disconnected.

It advises to follow a procedure which doesn’t quite match my car, but nonetheless shows that data collection is activated.

Car is a Renault Zoe 2023

Replacement window fire regs

We want to replace this 2nd floor window (yellow photo) with something that’s a lot less “framey” so we can enjoy the seaview without all the UPVC getting in the way.

We’ve seen online and had quotes for a tilting but not fully opening window like in the orange photo (we’d have it just plain glass, without the fan detail).

But a fitter/builder told us this week this would be against fire regs because it can’t be used as a fire escape, and the only other window in that room is a velux in the roof. He’s insisting we have to have a window that can fully open, and that means having some verticals.

Anyone got any experience here? I can’t imagine the current window meets those regs because the current opening isn’t small enough to get a person through.

And why are window frame designers quoting us for frames like this, if they don’t meet regs?

Trying to install Disney Plus on my kid’s Chromebook - it used to be on there, but the whole system got wiped when I sent it back to Acer service centre because of a faulty USB socket.

But the Play store won’t let me install it. Says it’s only available for my other devices. And then it mentions something called Google Nissa, which if I understand correctly is the name of the Chromebook hardware spec. The big “uninstall” button suggests it’s installed, but I can’t find it anywhere.

Anyone help me out?

Oh and it’s not just Disney. The same for BBC IPlayer and Netflix.
