I am thinking about trading in my 14" base m4 macbook pro (16+512) for a mac mini m6 32 gb. I have a NAS , with the current insane price of Hdds , I am thinking about getting something more powerful to transcode and compress videos and pictures in order to save space.

I am mainly using Handbrake to transcode my videos(movies and anime) to AV1 codec, most of them are hevc 1080p. I am only going to do software transcode for better quality so the lack of hardware encoding doesn't bother me , whats matter is cpu multi core performance for this task . As for pictures I plan to convert them to Webp format. Given the m6 is quite an improvement in multi core performance over the base m5 and m4 , do you think it can give me much better performance in these tasks?

Even though I prefer Macs , what are the other options besides Macs that are not to expensive and is power efficient ?

I am using a APC Back UPS 500VA, BK500EI UPS for my DS923+ , the battery inside just died and need a replacement, I am wondering if I should replace the battery or get a new UPS altogether.

My 923+ is populated with four 3.5 inch HDD , I just want to protect it from power surge and to shut down safely during a power outage. I am also planning to plug my MacBook Pro base M4 (96w charger) into the surge protection socket . Is my current one capable of this if I replace the battery given it can supply 300w or should I get a new UPS ? If so what is the best one I can buy for 130usd or lower ?

Just got my hands on a tab s11 11inch, I would like to install a protector that will reduce the reflection and glare on the screen . For those who are using the official Anti reflective protector , what’s your experience with it ? Most reviews say that it is prone to scratches and won’t last long . I also saw it is not very good at reducing reflections (still reflecting like a mirror) in some YT videos .

Another option is the Mothca Matte Glass Screen Protector , it is highly recommended in the ipad community , I found that they also make some for galaxy tabs but don’t know if it will interfere with the under display fingerprint scanner . Is anyone using it and how’s your experience with it ?

I am using an ipad pro m1 12.9 right now , I want to replace it with a nice small tablet(ipad mini 7 is a horrible deal especially after the price hikes) and also pretty tired of ipados limitations. But there is no nice small android tablet that’s not from Chinese brand(bad software support ), so I am thinking about selling my ipad and get a used 11 inch tab s9 then buy an ipad mini 8 when it came out .

What do you think about this combination (tab s9 + ipad mini 8) ? Also is the tab s9 still a decent android tablet that’s not too expensive or do you have a better idea , please let me know.
