Switch from ADT?

I've been a long-time ADT customer, and pretty happy. But it's time to update the system - new panels with remote access and cell/wifi instead of landline for monitoring. Best ADT could do is about $1000 for new panels, plus new smoke detectors (they're past useful life).

I could replicate system with Simplisafe (same number of door/motion/glass sensors) and panels for about $400 with Mem day discounts. Plus monitoring would be about 2/3 the price. Yeah, I'd need to spend a few hours doing install.

Should I switch?

Switch to Simplisafe?

I've been a long-time ADT customer, 25 years in two homes. But my system has become antiquated (Safewatch 3000) and I'd like at least to use wifi/cell instead of landline and have panels that have remote access. And I need to replace the smoke alarms (well past 10 years).

Anyway, would be nearly $1000 to "update" (more than I paid 17 years ago!), plus increase in monitoring fee. I could replicate equipment with Simplisafe for about $400 (given discounts) and monitoring is less.

Would you switch? Why/why not? Again, happy with ADT service/responsiveness, but the cost is getting hard to swallow.
