Is this just a young garden spider, or something more interesting?

I was too intimidated by the idea of painting him completely white, so I went for this colour scheme instead

I feel like it's quite rare to see people painting dreadnoughts. I just finished my third one, so I thought I would share some pics

Whenever I paint flat panels with wraithbone, it always dries with a rough texture (see knee in picture). Same with the shoulder pads. I always thin my paint and do it in layers. But I can never get it smooth.

Because of this I have not yet attempted to paint my terminator squad in case they all end up looking horrible.

What am I doing wrong?
