Claim Son as Dependent?

My son is 35 years old and has not filed a tax return on about 7 years. He has not worked in all that time and had no income whatsoever in the last few years. He is totally dependent on us. He lives with us, I pay his phone and auto and medical insurance and other minor expenses.

We did persuade him to finally go to community college and he is in his second year and getting straight A's!!! I paid his tuition. He does not get any aid from the school or the government.

Can I claim him as a dependent?

He got some sort of tuition statement or receipt for the tuition, is this deductible. I generally take the standard deduction every year. I have not filed for 2025.

Any advice is Appreciated..

Medicare Part D Enrollment Issue

I signed up for Medicare part B in October thinking I would retire at the end of the year. As it happened I still have not retired and I am covered by my employer'group plan which includes drug coverage .

I picked up a Medigap policy in December knowing that I had to get this policy within a few months of getting Part B

When I signed up for Part B I sent Medicare a statement of continuous coverage which Medicare accepted.

I also signed up for a Part D plan through Humana which went into effect in January. I missed and just found a letter from Humana stating that I did not have continuous coverage for Drugs since 2016 and that I needed to send them a letter showing coverage by January 9, 2026. I literally just found this in a pile of paperwork in my kitchen. Yes shame on me for missing the letter.

I don't think that Humana is charging me a premium at this moment. Can I submit the statement of coverage at this late date to avoid the penalty?

Doesn't the statement I submitted in October cover the Part B letter?..

Any advice is appreciated.

Thanks

Ben Hogan Clubs From the 50s or 60,s

Hi.

My late father-in-law was a life- long golfer.

Somehow I ended up having his golf clubs in my garage.

They have to be over fifty years old because he passed in 1975.

I think my mother in law said they are a set of Ben Hogan matched woods and I suppose there are driving clubs in the bag.

Neither of my sons play golf. My nephew was interested in the clubs but he is well over 6'4 and my father-in-law was a foot shorter so they were of no use to him.

Is there any value on a set of clubs these old? I have not inspected them but they appear to be in good shape. I hate to take them to Play It Again Sports when there might be some value to them.

Would I be better off finding some teenager who wants to play golf and give it as a gift,?

I am in North Carolina.

Thank you

Copay to Medicare

I have group insurance through my employer which is primary I also have Medicare part A and part B and a Medigap policy. I was supposed to retire last March and they asked me to stay until year-end.

I take physical therapy and I have a $25 copay which I am paying through my FSA card. Can the therapist bill Medicare for the copay?

Thanks
