twitch.tvIs this any good?
I posted my first video on a new channel and this is my first time being real intentional about how I do my thumbnail and title.. this feels kinda low and I’m worried that the CTR is kinda low for this amount of impressions but maybe y’all can shed some light for me
This happen
Has this happen to y’all? It’s not pushing into the shorts feed in the first 2 hours that’s not normal for my shorts.
Hooks
I feel like I got retention down decently,.. the two under 80% is my first 2 shorts..
I think my issue is hooks.. but I can’t seem to figure out what works.. I’ve tried speeding it up, I’ve tried one sentence, two sentences, one long sentence, I’ve tried risers in the background, I’ve visually tried zooms or a face.. I’m currently working on First frames visually and audio but idk if that will help my STW that much..
I’m just wondering if y’all have any advice on hooks to get me close to 70% consistently.
one of the most confusing things about content..
one of the most confusing things about content is not understanding why something work OR EVEN what is working and why its working.. i've tried to replicate this a couple times and i still can't figure it out.. around 95% at the end as well.. i can't figure out why its so high

I was finally able to hit a 5k short
So I know this isn’t a lot but it’s my first.. I’ve only been posting real shorts for the last 3 days.. so after only 3 days and getting one there, this feels good. I’ve treated this like a real full time job (along with a real full time job, working basically 12-16 hours a day at this point lol) trying to edit and script but also trying to figure out what I can do better and what can be tighter or stronger.. what can I do about rhythm etc. this is just a proof of concept for me that if I can get 5k in 20 hours of it being posted then maybe I can get a million view short after working at this on my 30 day challenge.
I got my first 5k short
I know that’s not the biggest deal but I thought a we days ago I was stuck at 1.2-1.7k views because all of my shorts were stopping there.. then I posted a new one which is this one and both this and the other video went to 2.5k and the last to 3k respectively.. went to bed and this one has been getting pushed the last few hours it’s been getting pushed again up to 5k
I know the STW being 67.7% isn’t amazing, but this is only my 3rd day in my 30 day challenge (this is my first real attempt of making shorts, before this i just made clips of my videos into shorts, no hook, no real editing, nothing really) for this new short challenge and I manage to get my STW from 45% to 55% to 65% over each short.. hopefully the trend continues and my shorts currently have 104% (my last short) and 95% (this one) retention respectively.
Kinda disappointed it slowed down, do you know why?
Seems like most my shorts stop around 1k to just under 2k area..
Now my other ones are just very mid, they are just clips from my Playthrough with no hook.. but this one is actually a game lore short.. I know these numbers arent insane by any means.. I wasn’t saying it should go viral
But for a roughly 48 second short which is fairly long in the short world.. I thought a ~52% stay to watch and 35-36 second retention on 48 second (around 73% retention) would atleast get me around 10k views for a short this size. It also has a 4-6% like engagement as well which is average to above average, as it’s typically 3-5% (was up to 8% early on).. like I said I wasn’t expecting it to blow up at all but I was expecting with fairly decent numbers on a short that length that it would get around 10k
(Also some of the stats crashed because I took a screenshot just as my next hour cycle went over)
What’s the issue?
I know this is the first upload on the channel and I need to be patient but just curious what y’all think the issue is for it not getting pushed? About a quarter or third of the views are from my shorts of the playthrough whether from related video or clicking on the channel and going to the video..
Personally I think the issue is that it’s a 7 and half hour video and I’m a new channel so YouTube doesn’t know who to push it to and maybe doesn’t wanna push out content like this yet for a new channel with this content..
But I do feel like I do things right Keywords in the channel setting, good tags, clean thumbnail, a decent hook in the first 20 seconds of the video, shorts to flow a little bit of traffic to the long from content, cut out the fluff..
Just curious what y’all think is the reason for only 37 impressions in about 4 days?
