Calories, treats and having a small dog - I'm confused

As a rule, most professionals say that your dog's treats shouldn't have more than 10% of their daily food intake. Some say se about calorie intake. But what get me confused is then how am I supposed to use treats while training/for enrichment/etc if my dog is 4,3 kilos and should eat about 100 grams of kibble daily?

Im not anti-science, im not opposing the rule, I'm just really confused how 10 grams of treats/ 36 kal can be used in anything other than one - two time rewards.

Say, we mostly use one type of biscuits for training and other reward relating stuff. She usually gets around 1 - 3 pieces/day depending on how much we train/walk. Their package says she can eat up to 4-5 of them for her weight (3-4 is recommended). I decided to calculate how much of them she can have calorie-wise. Turns out - 1,5, and it would take ALL of her allowed daily treat intake. If speaking weight wise - 2 biscuit max, full intake again

And it's on veterinary kibble - she'd probably eat even less on normal one that we're gonna transition to soon.

Most other treats either don't have weight scale and just say about 10% or have very restrictive rules (like, 5 very small bite sized treats, f.e.)

If any of you have small dogs, how do y'all work this out? I *could* stop using treats but I feel like I kinda have to use them for trust and relationship building activities (she's not very kibble motivated and I often have to strengthen our relationship because I have depressive episodes and she's a smart ahh and a very dramatic soul)

PS: please, don't bully me if you think I'm not smart, I'm just a regular first time dog owner who wants best for their animal. I'd like to be educated on the topic!

Re-desensitizing to dremel

Trying to re-desensitize my girl to doing her nails: she was absolutely fine with dremel when another family member (idk if it's still like that tbh) did the process, but I believe I overdid it because I was nervous her nails were too long and the said member just can't do it frequently and now she doesn't let me use dremel at her nail at all and act scared when i bring it up.

I reward interactions (booping it, getting close to it), reward her while it is in my hand or laying close to her. She isn't scared of its sounds at all, boops it fine but is still cautious when I try to touch her paws if it's in close proximity (she's fine when I just touch them randomly or while giving paw). I was able to do it a few times but don't want to rush her. Honestly I think she's have great progress even from a few sessions since she would just run amd hide before.

Am I doing it right? I feel awful that I ruined her experience and have to do it all now, but DC made me feel like im not doing enough (even though it *was* enough)

EDIT: Would using some high value treats only for these sessions help too? Im not a fan of the whole treat value concept but I, in no way a professional, think it might bring more positive correlations, no?

Need help — GD doesn't work properly (bug or user mistake?)

English isn't my native language, so apologies for wrong terminology

For some reason all of my docs started to look like first doc from photo 1: no sheet separation, strange sheet sizing (while document is in A4), random gaps in texts etc. If exported in PDF, files look like I "forgot" to use all of A4 sheet but overall look more or less normal (see second picture).

I honestly can't think of anything I could do to cause it, at least at that levels? I changed the indention from 2 to 1 ig, deleted a few headers and footers but generally no overly complicated stuff

Idk what to do. I'm a newbie to GD, non of my close people can help me and I *need* Google docs for studying. Maybe someone can help me out?

P.S. Forgot to add: I tried to fix it by myself: changed the page parameters, added/deleted page breaks, changed page margins etc

Changing lines - what do I choose?

My girl is toy poodle (4,3 kilos, 2,5 y.o). She was on RC Gastrointestinal Low fat for about a year due to gastritis and related gi problems.

She's been clean (as in remission or just not having any troubles with her stomach) for at least 3-4 month, both her vet and gastroenterologist agreed that we can shift to either digestive care lines or just regular kibble.

The problem is, I'm not sure what to choose. I wanna stay within Royal Canine brand (since she eats it well and I personally prefer it over Purina), so I have 3 lines to choose from: RC Small breeds, RC Digestive care amd RC Poodle.

  1. RC Digestive care

We tried it about 5 month ago, didn't go well - she ended with gastro flare-up (but I'm believe it was both user error and my dog still not being healthy enough for it combination that caused it). Love that it supports GI tract, has a good amount of fiber and other supplements but not sure about the amount of fats (22%, more than regular line) and I am kinda scared from bad experience before

  1. RC Poodle

It's kinda hard to find anywhere other than online markets, but I'm really curious about it since it seems to support stuff that I find useful (hair, teeth and muscle care). But Idk how to feel about protein (30%) and fiber (only 1,7%) ammounts. None of our poodle/doodle friends are on it so no personal experience too

  1. RC Small breed

We used it before her health problems, she ate it well, the only thing is that other variants seems to be more appealing to me cause they get some highly specialized add-ons and supplements that IMHO would be great to have in my dog's diet - from my pov

What I want from her food:

good fiber amount - she does best with normal to bigger ammounts of it in her diet;

enough fat - don't really want overly heavy foods, but she do need a good intake since she's active young dog;

usefulness - I'm not sure if breed specific or special lines are actually working, but if they do, I want to get what's best for my dog and her needs

• preferably easy to stomach - even though she is cured, I still want to be cautious about her GI system to not overhelm it again

Maybe you can help me out? Some experiences, anyone? Again - doctors said use whatever works, so in the end i have to choose myself

Is microwaving kibble fine?

Not strictly on the main theme, but i do need to know. While my dog can and will eat kibble as it is, she just won't eat it during walks/training if it's not microwaves for 30-40 sec.

I do hope that I'll be able to get her to take normal kibble in some time, but for now I really want to keep it warm - I can't really overfeed her with treats as she's just 4 kilos and is very clever and will become more fussy if I have up and do things her way (trust me, speaking from experience lmao).

I also make her warm breakfasts (microwaved kibble with water)

Hope someone can help me!

EDIT: my main concern is doing it for TRAINING, so adding water wouldn't work as it does for normal feeding times

Reactivity after spay

Didn't know I have to write it, but other subs taught me to never trust people:

YES, I KNOW that it's too soon to evaluate the behavior.

YES, I KNOW that behaviors DO change after s/n, BUT my PERSONAL dog, the one I'm writing about, had a history of reactions to stuff and I want to be ready for stuff. I have anxiety that doesn't help with reassurance too. If you don't have anything useful, or at least nice, to say, sincerely, just close my post and go do anything else, please.

My question is, can spaying create or "restart" reactivity or is she just healing from operation and behaves accordingly?

My girl (toy poodle, 2,5 y.o.) had a lot of small, but really annoying behaviors for at least half of her life: being overly conscious, reactions to dogs (as in trying to get to them or expecting them to do same in aroused manner), being nervous and hence not being reliable offleash etc.

Pretty much all of these problems were non existent after we learned she had liver shunt and operated her. For like a year - 1,5 she was a PERFECT dog, she gained confidence, stopped being so conscious about her surroundings and was absolutely angel for offleash walking.

But after her spay (last Friday, I know, very close to today) I started to notice her previous behaviors to come back....i almost cried on this morning walk because she was so...not herself and reacted to some stuff she didn't give a f before(((

So, my question for either people with experience (as in spayed bxtches, she's my first dog too at that) or just educated ones: do you think these behaviors are strictly post operational ones or should I start to pray and prepare to say goodbye to enjoying my life with my dog and starting all over again? Please, PLEASE don't get me wrong, I love my dog however she is or isn't, I'm just really scared of loosing our bond again and having to treat my mental stuff again because this sht hurt me and my mental state really hard

Guilt after spaying my dog

My girl (toy poodle, 2,5 y.o.) was sterilized this Friday and I'm just eating myself with guilt.

I'm pro-do-what-works-for-your-dog/ anti pediatric s/n and knew I'm gonna spay her one day. Honestly, my decision to do it right now was partly for me, partly for her, but IMHO, I mostly cared that she wasn't herself during heats: unlike how it should be, she was nervous, more picky, scared of stuff she usually tolerates (random strangers, some dogs) and are very poorly. It always made me nervous because even though it's not as difficult as with male dogs (that are active 24/7 and can behave poorly all time long), we still spend about a month - two preparing for heat, going into it and coming from it and it was tedious and played on my nerves because your dog loosing some weight from some stupid sht is annoying af.

Going back to rn - operation went well, she has good appetite, goes potty and pees well (she even leave marks and do after piss dance lol), but she's SO not like herself at home...she just lays, isn't affectionate and baheves liek she's uncomfortable. And, before y'all blame me for being impatient, yeah, I get it, she's just coming from abdominal surgery and it's absolutely normal, but my heart just breaks seeing her like that... She's such an active, sassy girl and I'm DEADLY scared that she's gonna lose herself because of her spay and become lazy, dull, cat-like thing that isn't interested in anything. All these thoughts (is it too early? Should I have waited? Maybe I should have left her intact etc etc) just don't let me exist normally

I just pray that she's gonna be fine in a week or so and come to sences.

Sorry for stupid post, but idk how to process my feelings on the topic.

Maybe some of you can calm me down with your own positive experiences? Anyway, thanks for reading

Short ear cut look: will she look stupid or nah?

Pretty much what title said. My girl is a 2,5 y.o. toy poodle, I recently started to get her into maiami cut and looove it, but I wanna experiment a little too! I was always fascinated by short ear cuts, BUT idk if it'll look good on my dog....I feel like it's kinda masculine/more "ruff" look. She's a total diva and a drama queen BUT has a very wild/drive-y/flashy personality, so not a "fru-fru" purse dog at all lol: we spend almost all of our outside time adventuring in our neighborhood and nature. Also - I'm really nervous about hair growth time (Google says it takes around 3-4 month). Does anyone have any experience with this style? Maybe y'all can help a gal out, lol.

(P.S.: I tried to photobash how Busya might look with short ears (last photos)...idk how to feel😅)
