What helped me get more replies from brands

When I first started pitching, I was sending the same message to every brand and barely got replies.

What helped was making each pitch more personal. I’d mention a specific product and suggest a simple video idea instead of just saying, “Here’s my portfolio.”

It takes a little longer, but my outreach feels way more genuine now.

What’s one outreach tip that actually worked for you?

What helped me improve my UGC portfolio

I realized my portfolio didn’t need tons of videos. It just needed a few strong examples that showed different skills.

For ex:

-Product demo,
-Testimonial-style video
-Problem → solution video

I also started adding a short note explaining the goal of each video.

What’s one thing that helped improve your UGC portfolio?

I’m not convinced Pax Silica is a good move.

It sounds promising for AI and technology, but I worry that the benefits could go mainly to big companies while local communities deal with the costs.

we should look at the risks, not just the opportunities.

What’s one thing you wish you knew before moving to the buy side?

For people who moved from investment banking into PE, HF, VC, or asset management, what’s one thing you wish you had known beforehand? for me, I think people focus too much on getting the offer and not enough on what the actual day-to-day work is like.

Curious to hear from people already on the buy side .what surprised you the most after making the move? Could be about recruiting, hours, compensation, deal work, or even the culture.

would be especially interested in hearing from people who moved from banking to PE or hedge funds.

My aunt paid me 1 pesos for every white hair I pulled out

A while ago, my aunt started getting a lot of white hairs. one day she asked me to help her remove them because she didn’t want to pluck them herself.

Then she jokingly told me she would pay me ₱1 for every white hair I removed.

I thought, “Okay, easy money.”

So I started looking through her hair and pulling out the white ones one by one. hahahah

At first, I thought I would only make maybe ₱20–₱30, but there were actually A LOT of them.

We ended up making it into a little routine. Whenever she noticed more white hairs, she would ask me to remove them, and I would get paid per hair.

It sounds ridiculous, but it was honestly one of the easiest side hustles I've ever had.
