Question about leather conditioner

I'm looking at getting into bag restoration as a hobby. Nearly every tutorial I read or video I watch of anything to do with old leather being restored starts with leather conditioner. Well, after deep cleaning...

My question is how leather conditioner actually manages to do anything when most leather is painted. I'm whether it be thinking sofas, bags, car upholstery, whatever. They're all leather with a coating of paint. So how does the conditioner actually get to the leather face to do anything when it has a layer of paint acting like a barrier?

Japan third visit. Itinerary ideas

As the title says, my wife and I are planning our third Japan trip. I don't think there's anywhere in Japan we haven't particularly enjoyed previously, just being in Japan is amazing in itself but I'd love to hear some ideas about potential itineraries.

We have just shy of 3 weeks in Japan. We love exploring in the sense that we'll walk lots of miles every day checking places out. But we're not into any outdoor activities so we're not going to be climbing any mountains or anything like that. There are no activities specifically we want to do. We just like going from place to place taking in the surroundings and enjoying the culture.

We've been in September the last 2 times and despite saying each time we'll never put ourselves through that crippling heat and humidity again....we're planning to go in September. Again 😆. Work commitments dictate that this is the most convenient time for us both to get away so September it is!

We fly in and out of Tokyo this time.

We've already visited:

First time: Tokyo, Kawaguchiko, Kyoto (Did Nara as a day trip), Osaka.

Second time: Osaka, Hiroshima, Kanazawa (loved this part, we hired a car and did a lot of day trips, Shirikawa-go, Takayama etc), Tokyo.

This time we would definitely like to visit Okinawa. Other than that we are open to ideas. We have come with a loose idea of going to Kobe after Okinawa, then perhaps onto Matsumoto, using both as a base to explore nearby places, perhaps with hire cars. We really liked seeing the more rural places outside of the cities (although we love the cities too!) and driving in Japan was really fun. We're hoping we can do similar exploring from Matsumoto.

We had hoped to get up to Hokkaido this time but there just isn't enough time realistically ☹️. It would have been nice to have a few days in a slightly cooler place but never mind. It gives us an excuse for a fourth visit anyway 😀.

So a rough idea for an itinerary is

Arrive (Tokyo). Stay 1 night

Fly to Okinawa. Stay 5 nights

Fly/Train to Kobe (via Fukuoka Kyushu?) stay 4 nights

Train to Matsumoto, Stay 4 nights

Train to Tokyo, Stay 5 nights

Fly home

Is 5 nights in Okinawa too long? My rationale for this was that on our previous Japan visits we didn't get much time to just chill as we were constantly on the move. Which is great, and we both enjoy that but it would be nice to have a chill for a few days for a.cjange this time. The idea of a hotel with a pool, near a beach for a decent chunk of the holiday appeals to me. My wife wants to do shark diving. Other than that it just looks like a cool place to chill? We'd thought about hiring a car for a few days here to do some further exploring on the island as well.

We had initially planned for a few nights on Kyushu next but this idea has been shelved. We could still allow this by borrowing a day from Kobe/Tokyo/Okinawa.

The first night in Tokyo is admittedly a bit of a waste. The reason for this is that getting straight on another plane after flying from the UK to Japan just seems like too much of a stretch, so we're taking a night in Tokyo at the beginning to recover before flying down to Okinawa the next day. Or at least that's the plan, I'm open to ideas!

Previously we've flown into Tokyo and out of Osaka but we didn't fancy Osaka this time.

We couldn't see any reasonable flights to other major airports in Japan so we are stuck with Tokyo for both legs. I love Tokyo and wouldn't miss it out but it would have been nice to fly back home from another airport to avoid an odd night in Tokyo. Whether we do our stay in Tokyo at the end or the beginning we're going to need to be there for an odd night. If we do it at the end we'll want to be in Tokyo the night before as it's a fairly early flight.

Kobe seemed like a good choice as it's sort of on the way back up, so to speak. Looks like a cool city and plenty of stuff to do nearby, perhaps even without a car.

Matsumoto next, again looks like a good base for exploring but maybe with a car, there seems like a tonne of interesting stuff to see around Nagano prefecture?

Would love your feedback or suggestions for my itinerary.

Thanks all 👍🏻

Polyurethane soles...

Looking for a solution for PU soles as used on lots of Adidas styles (Trimm Trab, GS etc).

Aside from the issue of them basically disintegrating, I'm looking for a solution to the white coating on the soles wearing down and leaving the uncoloured PU colour behind.

Say I had a pair which hadn't disintegrated but the soles are no longer white like the soles side wall, presumably I could recoat them white again. But whatever coating was applied would surely need to be rubberised for grip? I'm wondering what sort of stuff they use to cost them from the factory. Whatever it is is used for the entire sole as it's one moulded piece on these styles as opposed to a separate sole with rand around the mid.

Normal white acrylic paint would probably stick for as long as the original coating (not that long) but it wouldn't provide any grip. I'm thinking a white 'rubberised' paint/coating?

Any Addictive drum people here?

Looking for help with something on AD2. Say I want to use my snare and floor tom to record a kick and hi-hat closed beat, so in midi map I use the learn function to assign the snare and floor tom triggers to this note. Great, works a treat I can now record my hi hat closed and kick using my snare and floor tom pads/triggers.

So I now have that performance recorded on a lane in my VST and I want to layer some other kit pieces over it. So I use the learn function to revert the triggers back to being a kick and a hi hat.

But now the performance recorded midi triggers the floor tom and snare notes.

Is there a way to temporarily use different triggers to trigger other parts of the kit and then revert back without the recorded performance reverting back as well?

Parcel lost

I sold an item on Vinted. Buyer used a Vinted pre paid label..I dropped the parcel off at the drop off point which was acknowledged on the Vinted app with the status updating to "order sent and on its way!".

The tracking never changed in a month. The chat dialogue box between me and the buyer updated with a message from Vinted saying it was delayed and asked to wait until a certain date when the buyer could report a problem. The message stipulated that I'd get compensated for the full value of the parcel was lost.

Well that date came and went, the buyer got refunded but I'm still waiting. They said they needed to 'investigate'. Investigate what exactly I have no idea as it's blatantly obvious that the parcel was lost. The buyer bought the postage through Vinted, they can see everything.

Has anyone actually received compensation as a seller for a lost parcel?

Diagnosing hum in a self built amp

I have a hum/buzz in my amp which with a guitar plugged in, increases when I increase the volume dial. With no guitar plugged in it goes away and stays away regardless of volume settings, with only some static or white noise at higher volume but nothing too bad.

If I plug a guitar lead in but leave it unplugged at the guitar end it's much the same as if the guitar was plugged in, i.e. buzzing which increases with volume.

The amp uses the pre amp circuit from a Princeton reverb which I chose for simplicity except I'm using 4 x 6n2p in place of the tube line up Fender used. The power stage is totally different and something I've sort of designed myself with a bit of trial and error, for this I have 2 6p3s-e's which are grid biased. They are pulling around 116ma.

I've also used a different Tremolo circuit called the Trem-O-Nator from sluckeyamps.com which works a lot better than the Fender one (which I only had limited access with).

Rectification via 2 x EZ81's in parallel putting out 435vDC.

I (think) I've got decent filtering, the rectified voltage feeds into 2 x 100uf caps in series (50uf) with 470k resistors in series with each cap which supply the OT CT and the choke. Then from the choke, another 2 x 100uf caps in series also with 470k resistors across each cap supplying the power stage screen's and m after a 32k dropping resistor taking me down to 270v, I have a 22uf cap on the node which supplies the voltage for each of the pre amp anodes. I have resistors between each of these nodes and the anode to tweak the anode voltages separately. The phase inverter's anode also has a 20uf cap as per the original Fender circuit, none of the other preamp stage anodes have filter caps.

Hope the way I've written that makes sense, I'd love to hear some ideas on what the cause of the buzz might be.

I wonder if the buzz going away when nothing is plugged into the input jack is a clue?

Should I cancel?

I'm a private seller and I've just sold an item for 185 quid on eBay. I haven't used eBay for ages preferring Vinted these days as there seems to be 10 fold the amount of traffic. However I decided to list this on eBay as well to see what happened and to my surprise it actually sold. The issue is it's sold.a member in Italy with 0 reviews. It has scam written all over it and I just can't be bothered with the hassle. I want to cancel and relist with the international unticked. I didn't realise it was active on the listing.

Will I get negative feedback if I delete the listing?

Vinted (UK) searches messed up?

I have a number of saved searches setup for various items I like to look out for. For example, I like a specific type of trainer by a specific brand and have the search setup so that I only see exactly that model. But now, the exact same search criteria is showing all kinds of random styles and models 😑. Has this started happening to anyone else?

I have a fixed bias push pull output stage in an amplifier, it has 2 6P3S-E's (6L6). Plate voltage is 324. I have a 1ohm resistor between the cathodes and ground. I've measured the voltage drop across the 1ohm resistor and get a result of 0.252v.

My understanding is that this reading should translate to the same number in ma.

I understand I need to multiply the plate voltage by the 0.252ma.

324 x .252 = 81.64

Do I need to do anything with that result or does that mean my tubes are dissipating 81w? 🤔 and if so, is that averaged out between both tubes?
