Best place to buy a second hand phone in deventer ?

Hi everyone! 👋

I’m moving to the Netherlands soon and I’m looking to buy a good second-hand phone, preferably a Samsung Galaxy S-series.

What are the best and safest places/websites to buy used phones in the Netherlands? I’m mainly looking for good prices and trustworthy sellers.

Is Marktplaats the best option, or are there other websites/shops you would recommend?

Also, any tips for avoiding scams or checking a used phone before buying would be appreciated!

Thanks! 🇳🇱

🚨 Met spoed kamer gezocht in Deventer, Apeldoorn of Enschede

Hallo allemaal!

Kamer in Apeldoorn

Hallo allemaal!

Alvast hartelijk bedankt!

Looking for someone to team up with for the housing search – Enschede, September 2026

Hey everyone!

I'm an international student from Morocco, and I'll be starting my Master's in Software Engineering at Saxion University of Applied Sciences (Deventer campus) this September 2026.

I'm currently looking for someone who is also moving to the Netherlands this September to study at Saxion or the University of Twente, and who would be interested in teaming up to search for housing together in Enschede.

The idea would be to find a 2-bedroom apartment or house and split the rent and expenses between us. Ideally, I'm looking for a place around €800–€1,000 total per month, depending on the accommodation and included costs.

A little about me:

  • 23 years old
  • From Morocco 🇲🇦
  • Master's student at Saxion
  • Software engineering / programming background
  • I enjoy football, swimming, gaming, and trying new activities
  • Friendly, clean, and respectful

If you're also looking for housing and would like to search together, feel free to comment or send me a DM. We can discuss our budget, preferences, and search for a place together.

Good luck to everyone with their housing search! 🙌

Moving to the Netherlands soon –What should every international student know before arriving?

Hi everyone!

I'm a 23-year-old student from Morocco, and I'll be moving to the Netherlands this September to start my Master's .

I've already read about the basics (transport, housing, healthcare, etc.), but I'd love to hear the things that people usually don't mention.

What are some cultural differences, social norms, unwritten rules, or habits that surprised you when you first arrived? It can be anything like university life, making friends, dating, nightlife, work culture, Dutch humor, cycling, money, or just everyday life.

I'm interested in both the positive and the challenging aspects. Basically, if you could go back in time and give your younger self advice before moving to the Netherlands, what would it be?

Thanks in advance! 🇳🇱

Looking for advice: Working as a Software Engineering student in the Netherlands

Hi everyone,

I'm an international student and I'll be moving to the Netherlands this September to start a Master's in Software Engineering.

I already have experience with full-stack development and competitive programming, and my goal is to find a part-time software engineering job while studying.

I'm not expecting to become rich,I just want to know if it's realistic to earn enough to cover my rent and a good portion of my living expenses while completing my master's.

I'd love to hear from people who have actually done this or who know someone who has.

Can I choose Saxion housing in Enschede if my Master's is in Deventer?

Hi everyone,

I'm an international student and I'll be starting the Master's in Software Engineering at Saxion University in Deventer this September.

I'm currently looking at the housing options offered by Saxion, and I noticed they have accommodation in both Deventer and Enschede.

My questions are:

  1. Can I actually choose Enschede housing even though my programme is based in Deventer? Has anyone done this before, or does Saxion assign housing based on your study location?
  2. If it is allowed, would you recommend living in Enschede and commuting to Deventer?

The Deventer room costs €599/month (all inclusive).

The Enschede rooms have an estimated base rent of €346–550, but service costs will be added, so the final rent isn't known yet.

I'd really appreciate hearing from anyone who has experience with Saxion housing or has lived in Enschede while studying in Deventer.

Some additional questions:

  • How manageable is the daily commute?
  • How much do you spend on transportation each month?
  • Does Enschede have better student life or more English-speaking part-time job opportunities?
  • Looking back, would you choose Deventer or Enschede?

Any advice or personal experiences would be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

Deventer or Enschede? Need advice from locals and students

Hey everyone,

I just got accepted into the Master's in Software Engineering at Saxion University in deventer, and I'm an international student.

I'm currently looking for housing, but I'm a bit confused about whether I should live in Deventer or Enschede.

Which city would you recommend and why? I'm mainly interested in things like the city's atmosphere, part-time job opportunities, rent prices, cost of living, student life, and anything else you think is important.

I'd really appreciate any advice or personal experiences. Thanks!

Saxion university visa application

Hello everyone,

I have recently been admitted to Saxion University for a Master's degree in Software Engineering. During the visa application process, I am required to deposit approximately €13,000 because I am not an EU citizen.

I understand that this amount will be returned to me about two months after I arrive in the Netherlands. My question is: once the money is refunded, am I allowed to transfer it to someone else, such as a member of my family?

Thank you in advance for your help.
