Reduced vision 9 months on Accutane

For reference I’ve recently turned 19y/o and I’ve been on 40mg Accutane since December with a brief stint on 60mg for about a month. I’ve noticed that my short sightedness has got slightly worse over the last 6-9 months and I’m wondering if it’s because of the drier eyes caused by Accutane.

I finish my treatment in about 30 days and I was wondering if people saw improvement in eyesight after finishing their treatment.

James Cook Hospital, Middlesbrough, UK

I went to the NHS and with concerns over my PE, they confirmed I had it but that it wasn’t severe enough to get it on the NHS but they told me about Joel Dunnings at James Cook Hospital who charges c.a £7k for the procedure.

I was wondering if anyone has had surgery for their PE with him? Are there any other private PE surgeons in the UK worth looking at?

Tourist in Riga

Good morning,

I am visiting Riga for 3 days soon. I was wondering if anyone could recommend some restaurants. I eat pretty much anything but I like to eat in a nice environment.

It would be great if someone could recommend a more expensive dining experience for one of the nights (€50-€75 a head) and then some more casual ones (€20-€30 a head).

Doesn’t have to be Latvian food.

Beginner openings (250-300 elo)

Hi all,

Could anyone recommend a beginner opening for either both black and white or one for black and one for white that I can nail before moving on.

I figured that mastering one opening for each side before learning new ones would be ideal for developing

Paracetamol & Lemborexant

Just a quick one, has anyone used paracetamol and lemborexant simultaneously?

Google says it should be fine but I’d appreciate some personal experiences.

New to chess, trying to learn. (163 ELO)

Hi all,

As the headline suggests, I am new to chess and incredibly bad. Dropping from about 350 elo to 163 elo in the 10 minute mode. I have been doing the free coach game every day but i still cant seem to win online games.

I was wondering if anyone could point me in the right direction on improving. I know all the rules and i know how the pieces move i just cant seem to put together anything meaningful or good

Hume 2.0 VS Whoop

Has anyone used both the Whoop 5.0 and the Hume 2.0? I would love to hear your thoughts if so.

My main focus is healthspan and longevity and I was looking at moving to the Hume 2.0 as it’s designed for longevity but I question its actual accuracy compared to whoop.

The Hume is also not a subscription.

Hume 2.0 Vs Whoop 5.0

From a purely healthspan, longevity POV which wearable do you think is superior? The Hume 2.0 or the Whoop 5.0? The Hume is also cheaper however I care more about accuracy than cost cutting.

I want the best wearable for longevity.

Cleaning whoop band

I have the whoop 5.0 default strap. It’s gotten pretty smelly, I don’t really want to spend £60 just on a strap, how do people go about cleaning theirs and removing the poor smell?

Help with buying a HM

Hi all,

I want to buy a Herman Miller as I spend +10 hours a day sat at my desk. For context I am 6’4/195cm and I struggle to find comfortable chairs that I fit in.

I’ve looked at the HM website and there is lots of adjustable add on options. Are these worth getting or is the standard chair fine?

Any tips would be appreciated/model recommendations.

White spots on the back of hedgehog

I’ve been feeding a hedgehog in my garden and it’s begun coming back every day for dry non-fish based cat food (sometimes there is two hedgehogs).

Yesterday I noticed white patches/dust on the hedgehogs back. Apologise for the poor quality, it’s a screenshot from a video. Is this normal or is it dangerous?

Appreciate any help. Thanks

Question to UK based patients

I am based in the UK and I am looking to pursue DJS + Genio for aesthetic and functional reasons (I have a complex bite/orthodontic case) so I think it would be most appropriate to get orthodontics done by a consultant/specialist trained ortho.

I am finding it impossible to find an ortho that is willing to work with an Italian surgeon (currently favouring Ramieri @ ortognaticaRoma).

My question is: to those that had private orthodontics and surgery did you just use a normal orthodontist or were they specialist/consultant trained? How did you find an ortho willing to take your case? The only existing orthos in the UK that I’m aware of that have worked with Ramieri before are based in London which is quite far from me and very expensive.

Orthodontics pre operation UK

I am looking to pursue DJS+Genio privately, I am already 10 months into the decompensation stage of my brace treatment and I’m looking to go private for my orthodontics.

I am finding it almost impossible to find someone willing to pick up my case mid way through the decompensation to the point my only ortho option seems to be in London. Is there any consultant orthos in the midlands area, preferably Birmingham/Derby?

I have a complex bite so I need specialist/consultant level practitioner.

Flying after DJS

To those who had surgery abroad, how long did you stay in the nation before returning home via flight?

It seems to be that most OMF Surgeons want you to stay for 2-3 weeks post op then you can leave but this guidance seems more relevant for domestic patients as Google suggests that flying 2-3 weeks post op is too early.

For UK individuals who work and had a rhinoplasty.

Did you have to take annual leave for the recovery or could you take medical leave?

I have a deviated septum but I would be lying if I acted like the main motivation wasn’t aesthetics.
