Perseids event today

Who’s watching the Perseids meteor showers today?

A context for the uninitiated:
Perseids meteor shower is a yearly astronomical event where there’s a treasure trove of exploding stars and space debris, burning up on their entry through the atmosphere of Earth. This is visible to the naked eye depending on your geographical region on a clear sky.

Failed CISSP — July 7, 2026 — Domain breakdown inside

Sat the exam yesterday in Bangalore. Didn't hit the 700. Exam ended at 150 questions with about 45 minutes still left on the clock.

Some context on the lead-up: my father was hospitalized a few days before the exam with a post-seizure lung infection requiring overnight critical care monitoring, which I handled largely alone. On top of that, a few demanding personal commitments ate into the bandwidth I'd planned to protect for the final review. Between the two, my last stretch of prep looked very different from what I'd mapped out.

Prep overall: ~6 weeks — Chapple All-in-One, ISC2 Official Study Guide (9th ed), DestCert practice (~70% avg), CISSP Standalone Class app (~60% avg, 150 Qs across 3 passes). Final domain review leaned on mindmaps and videos rather than full readthroughs, given the time crunch above.

Domain breakdown (weakest to strongest):

Below Proficiency: Security Assessment & Testing, Communication & Network Security, Security Architecture & Engineering

Near Proficiency: IAM, Software Development Security, Security & Risk Management, Security Operations

Above Proficiency: Asset Security

Matches what I already suspected were my weak spots going in — just didn't get the depth I needed on D3/D4/D6 in the time that was left.

Retake's covered under Peace of Mind, so at least that part's one less thing to worry about.

Anyone who came back from a similar domain spread — what actually helped on Assessment & Testing / Network Security / Architecture specifically?

My reliable beauty of a beast!

Here’s my CBR resting in my natural habitat. A coffee shop away from the city.
