Beginner Advice?

Anybody got tips/suggestions for a first-time TFG player? I’m in early HV in GTNH so I know my way around Gregtech a bit but I’ve never explored terrafirmacraft. Anything you wish you could go back and tell yourself when you started this pack?

Base Rebuild

Just made my first advanced circuits and unlocked HV today, but I’m at the point where I’m forced to confront the fact that my infrastructure is too underbuilt to keep progressing well, and my base is getting obnoxiously cluttered and disorganized. Therefore, before diving into HV, I’m gonna knock the whole thing down and rebuild it from the ground.

Priority number 1 is definitely going to be fixing up my janky power gen, but I would love to hear any base building advice from people better at GTNH than me. Layout suggestions, miscellaneous QOL tips related to base builds, that type of thing

Easiest MV Polyethylene Setup?

What would you guys recommend for a pathway to my first polyethylene? As far as resources go, I think I have about 80 stacks of charcoal on hand if I were to go the wood gas route, 6 stacks or so of raw oilsands if heavy oil would be a feasible starting point. I definitely need to get my oxygen reserve up but I do have a decent amount of both sugar and minerals that yield oxygen in the electrolyzer.

“Supervisors aren’t coverage”

Is there a bigger lie that this company tells us? I’m a plumbing/electrical DS and this past week just about drove me insane with my staffing situation. My electrical department currently consists of one part-timer (16hrs a week tops). My electrical associate was in on Tuesday morning and that was the last time I had coverage in D27. I at least have two associates in plumbing who are both full-time but that still leaves me with plenty of gaps. I didn’t have an associate in either dept at all on Friday. Are other 26/27 DS’s running on this much of a skeleton crew?

Pinless Moisture Meter Any Good?

Thinking about getting a moisture meter to check my lumber, so I was looking at the pinless meter from Klein (model no. ET140). Is this type considered reliable enough? If not, any recommendations on a meter?

Too direct a competitor to ask my manager for a reference?

Current DS here, I hold an engineering degree and have applied for a job involving R&D of wood finishes/coatings. However the position was posted by a major lumber company in my area. Would it be a bad idea to ask my ASM for a recommendation even though the job is on the R&D side rather than in something like contractor sales?

Game Plan for a Complete Idiot?

Suddenly feeling like getting back into this game and thought I’d start a new campaign tonight. I’m definitely a casual (have a few hundred hours but most of those are failed/abandoned runs). Not into WCs or crazy achievement runs but I just enjoy building a big, powerful empire. There are a couple runs I’m feeling like doing, mainly Austria and Timurids —> Mughals but I’m also very open to other semi-beginner friendly options. Any advice for a good opening with either of those 2, or another country/strategy you think would make for a fun run? I really enjoy playing in the Middle East but I’m really open to anywhere in the old world for this one

Staffing Hell

Anyone else’s store also in the most cooked staffing situation you’ve ever seen? It’s the middle of May and we’re currently running with 3 DS vacancies, no full-time millwork specialist, 21/22 short 2 pairs of hands, short a PASA, the list goes on. I just want this store to make it long enough for me to find another career without imploding
