To make a move to management or ride a single year of great money?

I am having a bit of a dilemma with my career. We get salary plus bonus based on YoY sales.

I had a kick ass year last year and got $25k bump to my base salary and this also comes with a larger bonus potential. Essentially we have different "levels" and the higher your level the more money you can get on your bonus.

Been in the job for about 5 years and I know long term I dont want to be in street sales. My company has a great track record of promoting from within. Id like to explore a management track.

Jobs at the level above me rarely open. In the time I've been with the company only 1 of the 10 manager positions have ever come open. The big boss has let me know there are 3 coming very soon due to 1 retirement and 2 promotions.

Next week I will get the biggest bonus check of my life. 3x what I was able to get prior. My biggest customer recently expanded and I will easily make the same figures for the next 10 to 11 months.

Its incredibly tempting to ride out the money and make more money than I've ever seen. However the leadership roles rarely come up. To have 3 in one shot open is as rare as Haleys comet. I dont want to hold out for the money and it takes another 5 years for a spot to open up.

My dilemma is do I ride out the year and make more money than id ever dreamed of or forgo that to advance my career the way id like? Management comes with a modest increase in salary but their bonus potential is about a third of what I can do now, and its entirely dependent on the team.

I dont NEED the bonus money to pay my bills, my salary covers us with a little cushion. But man its hard to not want to bank as much as possible. Any advice appreciated.

We did it. Texas. 500k 5.5%

But it was probably one of the worst experiences of my life.

We got the keys to our first home. A big upgrade from our current rental. More space with a dedicated playroom for our kids, an office for me and a pool. Great neighborhood, green belt behind us. On paper its a dream home.

The process of getting it was a goddamn nightmare. Ill tldr to say the big concerns were potential moisture problems and all the windows needed replacing. A previous buyer fell out over negotiations on those issues. We made an asking price offer and when we discovered the same issues we asked for remediation of moisture issues and cash considerations towards the windows. Sellers had already begun other repairs based on first buyer. We asked for a few relatively minor things as well based on ours.

We got a quote for windows at 23k and Sellers insisted they could only contribute 8. We were ready to walk. My agent offered to put in some of her commission, so did Sellers agent and sellers upped their amount to 10k. Done deal let's buy the house.

Well once we began the process with the mortgage company is when this deal almost went to shit. Part of what Sellers agreed to was moisture remediation and air scrubbing. This was in addition to minor plumbing and electrical work. These minor repairs were already supposedly in process before we even submitted an offer. Got the air scrubbing set and completed. We needed to get an appraisal as part of our loan process. Sellers agent was in charge of scheduling them. We asked her, repeatedly, to not schedule the appraiser while work was being done on the house. She said she wouldn't.

Well she schedules the appraiser and when they arrive, a plumber and electrician are on site. Spots on the floor are opened up and theres a hole in the dry wall that had been there for a month investigating a potential water issue. The air scrubbing equipment is on site, but not running just waiting to be picked up. Appraiser asked what is that stuff for and Sellers agent tells her exactly what it is for!

So appraiser tells underwriter who starts to demand more repairs and certification of repairs that were NOT in our contract due to the condition of the home when appraiser was there.

That is when the Sellers turned nasty. They were extremely stubborn in giving us extensions to sort through all these new demands and basically demanded we forfeit our earnest money to secure said extensions. I suspect their agent told them we were the ones demanding these things and not that she fucked up with the appraiser.

Our mortgage guy worked his ass off to get the underwriter to waive all these New conditions but not without being berated constantly by the sellers agent.

I cant even describe the abusive language this woman used towards my own agent. It was so disgusting to witness. Theres a lot more but this post is long. Needless to say we got the keys but I have a very bitter taste in my mouth towards the sellers (who wouldn't even tell us the name of the pool company they used so we could get records or even which fucking number our mailbox was at the cluster box, holy shit talk about petty) as well as that God awful sellers agent. Fuck em all

How big of a deal was RTD leading the revival when word first got out?

Yank here who didn't get into "nuWho" until like 2012 or so. I've gathered that getting Eccleston as the Doctor was a bit of a coup for the revived show.

But was RTD a known show runner at the time? Or known enough to have expectations around him?

Just curious as I only know him from Dr. Who

Grind amount not always the same?

Got a luxe a couple months ago. Been loving it so far. I have noticed however in the last week or so that the grind amounts are not the same for the exact same drink.

In the morning I set up for a 6 Oz drip and do the grind and it fills the luxe basket about 1/3 or so and tastes great.

Then I go to get another cup, same size same everything, I hit grind and then it fills nearly to the top.

And then my wife will come and make her coffee and it's back to 1/3.

Anyone else run into this?
