My top 7 favorite Basketball Books So far

  1. THE Book of Basketball by Bill Simmons: an essential book, helped get me into the sport as its a who-s who of pre-2010's basketball. Entertaining and Im a big fan of Bill. However, obvious celtics bias, focused too much on hating certain players (Dirk whixh aged hilariously as the next year he won it all, Ewing), aged horribly (some pretty iffy stuff that modern day crowds would call offensive. I wasn't offended but jt took me by surprise) and at times dragged a little long in terms of tangents.

  2. Tall Men Short Shorts: by Leigh Montville: I am genuinely a huge fan of Montville. Have enjoyed his baseball books and interacted with him on Twitter where he called me a bright young man myself. Very interesting period of basketball history and a very entertaining and fluid read. Does a little too much self glazing (the beight young man title got old)

  3. Playing for Keeps by David Halberstam: Good book, read a lot like the Last Dance docuseries. VERY insightful and helped me learn about Jordan's career as a guy born 4 years after Jordan left Chicago the last time.

  4. Wish it Lasted Forever: by Dan Shaughnessy: Very interesting from a writer Im not big on. But as a huge Larry Bird and Kevin McHale guy, it was fascinating to learn about the era from a guy on the inside. I do find it fascinating to read books from guys on the inside

3.why so Serious by Mike Singer: Nuggets fan and Jokic fan so it was amazing to learn about my basketball hero and finding that he was as great of a person as I thought.

  1. BLOOD in the Garden by Chris Herring: Very well written and was a page turner. READ like a e0 for 30 documentary and I couldn't put it down. Doesn't read like a puff piece either. Honestly, captures the era of 90s basketball better than most.

  2. Larger than Life by Robert Cherry: very long but very easy to read. I find Wilt fascinating and this book gives a nuanced view on him thats neither glaze or unfair. Some sources do treat him unfairly as Wilt has haters.

The hoodie went on sale and Ive been looking for an Oregon shirt in time for the season. Though, I am thinking about a custom Bo Nix jersey because as a broncos fan, I think its time.

When Ranking CFB Helmets, Do Helmet Stickers Count?

Was talking with one of my buddies and we were talking best helmets in college football and got to arguing when ranking helmets, do you count helmet stickers like Michigan, Ohio state, Florida State and I think Clemson and Stanford. I said I would because theyre part of the helmet but my friend said they had to be added.

We argued because I suggested Ohio State. With the stickers its cool without its just a silver helmet

Michigan, Stanford and clemson can be cool without them

Washington Wizards Draft a Generational Guard and Off Season Changes[My career in My NBA]

Dunno if this is allowed, but it looked fun and I was inspired by the posts people do of ai magazine articles detailing their dynasties. So decided to do this for a player I made for a sort of my career, based off a player I built off of Kobe/MJ/Jerry West. Image is AI, but I wrote the article

Capital City Post

Wizards Draft Josh Fields

Since 2021 the Washington Wizards have been aimless, missing the playoffs and on draft picks. But, times may be changing, as the Wizards won the 2026 Draft lottery. This year there were multiple generational prospects: AJ Dybantsa out of BYU, Cameron Boozer from Duke, Darryn Peterson of Kansas, and UNC's Caleb Wilson. But, the Wizards used their first selection to take fellow Cougar, wing Joshua Fields.

While, the Wizards couldn't have gone wrong with 5 generational players, they surprised nobody with this selection. Josh Fields has drawn comparisons to legends of the game: Kobe Bryant, Michael Jordan, and Jerry West. Though more realistic comparisons would be something like Devin Booker, Anthony Edwards, a more athletic or a younger Jimmy Butler. He was affectionately nicknamed, "Mormon Kobe," or the "Morman Mamba," from BYU fans. Though, its up to time to see whether or not the nickname becomes iconic or ironic.

Josh Fields is a dynamic 2-guard who can do it all: he is a skilled shooter, a dynamic finisher, and is a skilled defensive player. The only questions are: if he can fix his weaknesses towards double teams, physical defenders, and at times slow processing speeds reading a defense. Some critics have called him a ballhog. His last season at BYU he averaged: 25.4 points, 6.5 rebounds, 3.4 assists, 1.2 blkckd, and 2.3 steals. He won Big 12 player of the year and the Naismith's College Player of the Year to Cameron Boozer. Along with AJ Dybantsa, the duo led BYU to the Final 4 where they lost to eventual champion Michigan.

When he was interviewed, Josh Fields spoke, "I'm grateful that the Wizards have enough faith in me, to pick me first. I promise that I will prove they made the right choice and keep on pushing. I think anything is possible through faith and Providence. In really excited to get to play next to Trae Young."

New GM, Puzzle Head (yeah just gonna use my reddit name roll with it, its funny to me) reminds fans to be patient and give it time, "We're thrilled to have the first pick. I believe Josh Fields can do great, great things for the organization. But, I want yall to be patient. 1 player isnt going to instantly turn things around, but he will give us a big first step. Just trust the process and no I don't intend on tanking with Josh. What I'm saying is enjoy the process. With Fields, Young, Johnson, and Sarr the Wizards have an exciting young core. Believe it! He will do great with Coach Keefe."

With that statement it indicates for now Coach Brian Keefe is safe. But for how long. Hopefully, Josh Fields is what turns Washington basketball around, otherwise its going to be another sad season. Personally, I like the kid but he has to be able to play well along with Trae Young and Alex Sarr and share the ball.

Puzzle Head Makes Big Moves this Off Season

When Puzzle Head took the job as Washington Wizards general manager, he claimed big changes were coming. And he already made some massive moves this free agency, both for a short term and long term future.

Starting off, he traded Anthony Davis to the Brooklyn Nets for foward Michael Porter Jr, guard Egor Demin, and a second round pick. While this sacrifices defense it brings in youth and a much needed scoring punch. Demin brings an added playmaker and another young guard

Puzzle Head said, "I love AD, I really do. But he's getting up there and cannot stay healthy. Thats not a slight, but I always loved the game of Michael Poeter Jr. And to get even more spacing and another scorer on the team, it should take some pressure off of Trae and Josh. And Demin, beings us another young guard who can playmake. Its all about youth. The need for a veteran will be solved in free agency."

Speaking of free agency the Wizards make some moves but not a lot: signing notably Tim Hardaway Jr, Richie Saunders, and Jay Huff. I do like the addition of Hardaway, he brings shooting and some hustle and was practically an extra starter for the Nuggets and can fill in Michael Porter's role if the wing shall get hurt again. Huff is another big who can do a bit of everything. And Saunders is a mystery, he was friends with Fields at BYU but will miss most of the season with bis acl tear. Maybe he'll bring more spacing and hustle, but its a waiting game.

We asked Tim Hardaway Jr about signing at Washington he said, "I watched that kid [Fields] at BYU and wanted to be part of the next big thing like OKC or San Antonio. So I signed here. Plus they gave me a bag." Hardaway trusts us enough to make a joke like that.

Richie Suanders said, "Yeah, Fields is a dawg! It was really fun to play with him and I think there's some chemistry. Ive been told he did a lot of campaigning on my behalf so I appreciate that. Go cougs!"

Seems like the starting 5 will likely be: Young-Fields-Coulibaly or THJ-MPJ-Sarr

While TLH doesnt nornally use real sports team (though their football team is clearly inspired by the Lions), it got me wondering something

Would Lynn be a Michigan or Michigan State fan? She strikes me as someone whos a fan of a team who may not be elite but no matter what happens she sticks through thick and thin, so maybe Syate. But she does like to win so maybe Michigan.

Royal Woods is halfway between Ann Arbor and Lansing so location doesnt entirely help

Maybe Western or Eastern Michigan

Personally I HC Michigan State

Im midway through the war saga and Ive learned a lot about Grant as a man.

Ulysses Grant was really chill and was a lot more understanding as a man then I thought he would be. Dude loved horses and in the Mexican war, an assistant/servant lose his horse and other horses and Grant didnt lash out. Rather he intended to walk until a fellow officer gave him a horse. He didnt intend on taking it but was talked into it.

Grant got the business bug during a brief stint in San Francisco which was probably the worst thing for him. A lot of failed businesses and Grant repeatedly got finessed by people he thought were friends.

The whole resign or discharge incident from the Grant show may not be historically accurate.

The Battle of Belmont was really interesting. And a lot of the early battles seemed to be the sides alternating attack and defense, attack run away attack. In other words skirmishes.

From everything I read about him General Gideon Pillow seems like a dick

Im gonna be really sad when I finish this book. But I got his book on Lincoln next
