Some test paint schemes. AI is good for some things. Feel free to steal whatever you like and build on it. The very first and last with the white rats is likely going to be the ones I write up a backstory for as im gonna use one of them for my firefight team.

Greetings all i want to talk about ideas for what people have been thinking about ratmen clans for grimdark future.

The lore establishes no defined clans so we the community can define what exactly that means.

That being said the lore does establish that familial clan establishment is paramount so that means genetics plays a part in any good ratkin clan you establish. Rats as a species get their color passed down from their parentage (genotype) aka if a large group of rats are breeding they will tend to have the same color (phenotype). This means when painting a clan the color of the rats should be part of the paint scheme. Some rats are just one color and others are countershade which means they are darker on top of the body and ligher below. In nature this is a form of camoflauge which makes the rat look more flat to the ground by counteracting the shadow below the animal.

I have included a image of some fur patterns for real life rats as a example.

My current world building for my first clanwould be to make a rat clan that lives on a ice world they have been forced mostly underground they had adaptations to have been white rats before choosing this world but they use their fur to their advantage to hunt and survive on the planet. Their uniforms are mostly white / off white and gray leather. If they go off world they wear cloth hooded cloaks over their backs which are able to be turned inside out and are a darker gray on the back side. They are masters of stealth much like most ratmen they use subtrifuge and gorilla tactics to fight enemies.

Let's workshop some ideas for your ratmen let's establish some ideas.

My squad for Firefight is using Gotfret de Montbard as a Celestial High Sister as I had him painted up for kill team (first new edition)

Order of the Sacred Rose List:

1- High Celestial Sister with Procession Sword and combat shield, devout boost aura.

1 - High Sister Superior w/ plasma pistol and energy sword, fortified aura.

1 - Fanatic Sister w/ chainsword

1 - Celestial Warrior Sister w/ storm rifle

2 - Celestial Warrior Sisters w/ Heavy Rifle

1 - Support Sister with heavy Machinegun

Using the models I have mostly painted and own atm.

From the models in the army avaliable im assuming you go melee heavy or a shooty squad. This is kinda a mix. Any advice for a new guy?
