Giving away free terrain STL files for feedback that shapes our future Kickstarters

We run terrain Kickstarters and want future ones built around what people actually want instead of guessing.

We’ve put together some questions about the terrain types and features you care about most.

Answer them and you’ll instantly get the Ritual Grove STL files. Link in the comments.

First OPR game

Finally played my first OPR game last night, after reading about it for over a month.

Love the simplicity of the system and how quick it is to pick up.

Me my dad and sister played a Regiments game using Roman and Celt minis.

Had a great time can't wait to play again.

What are people's thoughts on One Page Rules for 40k? Seems like a really compelling alternative.

I've been researching this lately and it seems like a really interesting and compelling alternative to modern 40k. Here are some points that stuck out to me:

\- Alternating activations seems incredible, and has many intersting implications. It's the modern upgrade for wargaming, and 40k is probably the last modern game that doesn't have it for some reason. There are so many important implications:

\* The game is far more interactive, we don't have one player sitting around for 30 mins, or just taking damage and getting destroyed.

\* I also realized, this completely neutralizes alpha strikes. Your opponent cannot shove their whole army in your face quickly and do a bunch of damage just by virtue of having such a long turn.

\* Because alpha strikes are neutralized, terrain setups get \*far more flexible\*. This is huge for me, I got serious L-ruin fatigue in 9th and 10th, and even now in 11th, I'm really sick of having to carefully measure out and create very similar obscuring footprint maps, just because without them the game basically can't function.

\- OPR is model agnostic within reason, and seems to have incredible flexibility in list building, as well as better balance. It doesn't suffer from codex power creep. We get to just enjoy the minis we want, not worry about things not having rules or going to Legends, and play with the models we want.

\* List building seems amazing too, there's actual war gear.

\* Everything is fully online.

\* Balance seems better too, I doubt there is a crazy OP meta. In fact, unit stats and costs are supposedly derived from actual mathematical formulas. I need to look into this more, but that seems amazing.

\* So, you're telling me I can continue to enjoy GW's fantastic new models, combined the old ones I have near and dear to me, and play an actual balanced game? Sounds amazing in theory for sure.

\- Simplicity in rules, strategic and tactical depth in game play. As the name implies, it's far easier to learn. But the actual depth doesn't come from strategem and detachment wombo combos, but from the chess game of interacting more with your opponent and having so many critical back-and-forth interactions.

\* It looks as well like we have a really solid core game to build narrative missions and campaigns on top of.

\---

Ok that's enough gushing after doing a few hours of research. I need to actually play some games and see if these ideas hold up in practice.

But for those of you who have actually played games, how do you find it? Do the ideas and points above materialize on the table top? How do you find that it compares to modern 40k?

Btw here is a good video I found giving an introduction to OPR: [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCbU7MacXzM\](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PCbU7MacXzM)

Aircrafts: Are they Viable

Aircrafts: Are they Viable

I play Robot Legions and Alien Hive. For both teams I have through my collecting acquired “aircraft” units. When I look at how they are played they seem terrible to be honest. They can fly in and out. Making them appear on turn 2, since turn 1 is not allowed (right?), fly outside turn 3 just to return turn 4. Or am I missing something?
Are they useable somehow?
So much points to appear for only two turns seems terrible tbh.

Anyone that could help giving me advice on how they could be useful? If they are that is.

Studio is useless now.

Since the last update all my home made army's no longer work, so I thought I'd just download the pdf for them and rebuild no Biggy. But no, that is even broken. At this point I have have hit my frustration limit.

Recreating Salamanders in OPR

I'm hopping over from 40k to OPR for a bit. I only like playing Salamanders and Custodes. Do you guys have advice on the best prime brothers detachment to use to emulate the same playstyle?

I'm looking at Prime and Dark Prime bros right now. Considering the indirect fire turrets to force my opponent to approach my tiny flamer range.

Any tips and tricks developed so far for Salamanders style combat?

Air Cav HDF?

Has anyone made a HDF list with most or all of the units mounted in multiple flyer transport and played it? A few years back my buddy and I played a game where my 2 sisters support squads with heavy flamers flew in Valks/ gunships vs. His havoc bros. It was unbalanced af but fun. Would lime to try doi g it again but via more legal means.

Rules questions

  1. How do regeneration and deadly work? Do you role one save and block all 3 wounds on a 5+? Or do you role 3 saves?, each one preventing a single wound on a 5+?

  2. On models with mend, are they still eligible to hunker down if they use their healing abilities but do not otherwise move or attack?

Change Daemons

Hey wondered if anyone in the community had a good proxy for change daemons for age of fantasy. I love the heavy magic and spellcasting but I'm not a huge fan of the eldritch/cosmic horror vibe of the gw tzeentch models or the opr models.

It's difficult because they are a little more specialized in their units especially horrors vs like if you have an elf army you could use them for high/dark/deep/wood elf armies if you wanted.

Just wanted to see what the community had as far as ideas or suggestions or if they knew of a line of minis that could fit.

Just as an FYI my main army I have been playing and collecting is saurians.

3.6

Hello, I wanted to ask something about 3.6.

Is Thano still adding and tweaking stuff? Because some army rules are just Broken. Like sisters and Jesters, some suck like Alien Hives. I Just watched some of Good'nuff hour long new vid and I agree. It's cool that they are trying to diversify armies, but in doing so they are doing like GW's Warhammer were there are faction rules that are straight up better than others or some that they are only usable if you are doing something specific (NOT MOVING, THEREFORE NOT PLAYING BASICALLY) what do you think?

How does Gang Wars stack up next to Necromunda?

What do you feel are the pros and cons of each system and which one is better, specifically at having that “RPG” feel and depth?

"Next time the effect would apply" - rule clarification

Looking for clarification on this type of rule. Example:

>Unstoppable Mark: One per activation, before attacking, pick one enemy unit within 18" in line of sight, which friendly units get Unstoppable against once (next time the effect would apply).

>Unstoppable: Ignores Regeneration, and ignores all negative modifiers to this weapon

Does this mean:

  1. Only the next (one) unit to attack receives the buff, or
  2. Each friendly unit, the next time they attack, they receive the buff.

I find any rule written in this way to be confusing and not as clear as they could be.

Help?
