Just learned about my 2006 ford focus zx3"lifetime" engine air filter, is it worth replacing?

I picked up this focus almost a year ago. Its an 06 with under 53k miles on it. Crazy low miles for the year, and the car was taken really good care of by the previous owner (elderly woman who barely drove it). While I was getting an oil change over the weekend, I was going to ask them to replace the air filter, but said they couldn't because of this model having a "lifetime" sealed compartment for a foam air filter.

With that car having very low miles, should I be concerned about getting the filter swapped out with an aftermarket one? No lights on the dash, and my car is driving fine, but with it being 20 years old I'm sure something will give at somepoint down the line.

Any info is appreciated, thanks!!

Funky Smell Coming From Modern GE Refrigerator

I moved into a new apartment about 2 months ago, and ever since then, there has been a musty odor coming from the refrigerator (not the freezer). It isn't the worst smell ever, but bad enough that it needs to be taken care of.

So, the other day I took everything out, wiped down the entire refrigerator completely, shelves and everything. Once all was clean, I noticed the musty smell coming from the console in the middle on the roof of the refrigerator (circled in red) it's gotten progressively worse since I had cleaned it, but only from that spot, which leads me to believe that the issue is coming from there.

SO, I am looking for advice on how to clean this, since it is most likely an internal issue. Is this something worth putting in a maintenance request, or am I able to disassemble the console and clean the inside myself? If I do clean it myself, do I need to unplug the entire refrigerator first? Any advice is appreciated, thanks!

(Peoria, IL) How should I go about getting reimbursed for large electric bill due to maintenance negligence

I just move into a new apartment about a month and a half ago, and since I had moved in, I noticed each day my apartment was using an insanely high amount of electricity. After putting in multiple requests to have me hvac equipment inspected, they eventually got down to the root of the problem, and it was infact not caused by any of my doing. It was an issue before I had even moved in.

So now my apartment is using the proper amount of electricity since it has been fixed, but technically right now, my next Ameren bill is over $650, BUT I am on Amerens budget billing program so I'm actually set to pay $157. Because of the faulty equipment drawing so much power, I am being charged an extra $500, but I won't see that damage in real time until my budget billing is adjusted in 3-4 months.

So my question, is how should I go about getting reimbursed from my landlord for the extra money on my Ameren bill? I've considered asking for a rent credit to cover, but if they look at my bill they'll see the $157 and say no way. And if I ask about it 3-4 months from now when my bill drastically spikes, would it be too late by then? Any advice is appreciated, thanks.

Does putting this plant here work?

I just moved into this apartment, and there is this small corner where traditionally, it looks like a chair should go there. I don't want to put a chair there, and didn't really want to hang something on the wall, so I got this 7ft faux plant to fill the space. I generally like it there, but also feel like it might be out of place.

So, does putting the plant there look odd, or does it do the area justice? Any advice is appreciated, thank you!

AC/Furnace Fan Is Constantly Blowing

I am renting a 1 bedroom apartment, roughly 800 sq ft. When I first moved in, the ac wasn't working at all. I put in a maintenance request, and a few days later it started working again. BUT, now the fan that blows the cool air into the apartment wont shut off at all. The only way it shuts off is if I flip the breaker for the furnace at the subpanel.

Since the initial repair, my electricity usage has skyrocketed to 70-90+ kwh, even with the ac shut off, so clearly there is something that is drawing unnecessary electricity. I don't have access to the unit, and maintenance has been taking their sweet time to get it fixed, so I am wanting to ask what you think the issue could be? It's clearly coming from the ac/furnace, I jad shut the breaker switch off for a few hours two nights ago and the kwh per hour dropped below 1 during that time.

Any advice is appreciated, thank you

Dealing with a huge Ameren issue (Peoria,IL)

I just moved into a new apartment recently (1 bedroom, roughly 800 sq ft), and I am responsible for ameren for the first time ever. 2 weeks after moving in, my first ameren bill popped up for $190. I figured with the summer rates in place, that's why it was pretty high. So after getting the bill, I decided to shut of my AC entirely and just use fans/open windows, I've been doing that for the past week. Even with that, Ameren says that I'm still using 70+kwh a day, and that my projected bill for this period will be over $600. There's no way this can accurate. I always turn lights off, everything is led, modern, and efficient.

How should I go about sorting this out? Again, this is my first time ever using ameren. I'm doing everything I can to keep my energy usage down, but the meter is saying otherwise. There's really not much else I can do to tone down usage.

Any advice is appreciated, thank you.

Maintenance won't fix my central AC and it's costing me extra money (Peoria, IL)

I recently moved into a new apartment, and when I moved in, the AC wasn't working at all. A few days later, maintenance came and got it working, and all was well. However, the AC fan is constantly running, even with the cooling system shut off and the fan set to "AUTO". I've had the AC shut off for a few days now and the fan hasn't stopped once.

At this new apartment, I pay for Ameren, so the longer this fan stays constantly on, the more electricity it is going to eat up. I've put in multiple maintenance requests, but it's still broken. I've reached out to my leasing agent, but no reply. What would be my next move here? Would it be wise to ask for some kind of reimbursement since it's using electricity that I have no control over? Any advice is appreciated, thank you
