What to prioritize- naps or feeding schedule?

Do you prioritize getting your twins to nap or having them eat at the same time? I have always kept them on the same eating schedule but now that they are 14 weeks (adjusted) we are starting to work on naps, only they don’t often nap at the same time. Today one went down for a nap at 10:20am and slept until 11:15am. Well the other twin didn’t go down until 11:00am. So now I have one baby awake who I know will want to eat soon (by 11:45am at the latest) and then only one just fell asleep! Do I wake the sleeping twin at 11:45 to feed them together? Or let him sleep?

Insurance finally covered our formula!!

Hopefully this is helpful for others in a similar situation. My twins were put on Nutramigen for suspected CMPI and it has helped us a lot with blood in poops, reflux, and general discomfort/difficulty with feeds. But it’s crazy expensive, especially when you have two! I called my insurance (Cigna) and was told they do not cover oral formulas. Well too bad for them because I was determined. I took two paths. The first was to call Enfamil and enroll in their Helping Hands program which is literally made to help you get assistance with formula cost either through insurance or other assistance plans. They were super helpful and easy to work with and let me know the documents I would need. The second path I took at the same time was to go through my son’s GI/feeding doctor and dietitian. They were able to go directly through a medical device company who worked with my insurance on my behalf and after a few easy phone calls (where they called me, no hounding required) the formula arrived at our door! I think the Helping Hands program would have worked too but going through our doctor and Edge Park was easier/faster. They did say I would have to meet my deductible first but after a 5 week NICU stay that was long gone.

I’ve made lots of pitchers of Nutramigen but never noticed this yellow on top. Anyone ever seen this?

Schedule help

My twins are 19 weeks, 11 corrected and I feel like it’s time to get a true schedule started. We have a routine- they eat every 2.5-3hours during the day and have been eating every 4 at night but we just got the okay from their pediatrician to stop waking them at night. I’m struggling with never knowing when they will nap during the day. I’ve heard people say they will nap better once they sleep longer at night? I don’t really get that. What worked for you around this age? Sorry if this is all over the place, extra tired mom this week.

Ask your pediatrician for samples!

I didn’t expect much when I asked our pediatrician if they had any samples of the new formula we’ve switched to. Well turns out we are the only family at the practice using it so they gave us 24 CANS!! Said if we didn’t take it they would be sending it back to the rep. Maybe a lot of people already know this but I didn’t so hopefully it will help someone else trying to avoid spending $800+ a month on formula (yes we are working with insurance to get it covered).

Prep ahead with formula maker?

Does anyone use their Baby Brezza on the room temp setting and prep all their bottles at once and then stick them in the fridge? The pitcher method is getting really old, especially with twins.

RTF cheaper per ounce??

I feel like I must be crazy and doing my math way wrong because it looks like Nutramigen RTF is cheaper than the powder? I’ve always heard the opposite.

Stopping breastfeeding

My 16 week old (8 week corrected) twins are being worked up for CMPI due to reflux/colic symptoms, feeding issues, and blood in one twin’s poop. Cutting out dairy isn’t sustainable for me but I’m really struggling to come to terms with ending my breastfeeding journey. I mostly pump anyways so I feel like it shouldn’t be a big deal but it feels so final and I’m more emotional about it than i thought. Just looking for some support.

Residue/film after washing bottle

We recently switched the Nutramigen formula and I’ve noticed a residue on the bottles after washing them. I use the momcozy bottle washer and just descaled it yesterday so I don’t think that’s the issue. Today I tried giving the bottles a quick hand wash before putting them in the bottle washer and that kind of helped. Any suggestions?

Tips for getting baby to drink Nutramigen?

Babies started on Nutramigen yesterday for possible CMPA. First few bottles went fine and then this morning one baby is just totally refusing the bottle. Not sure if it’s just his tummy adjusting or if he hates the taste because I know it’s nasty. How did you get your baby to drink it?

Parenting has not made us closer

My husband and I love each other very much. I had a very difficult pregnancy followed by a complicated birth and 5 week NICU stay. Our twins have been home for 3 months now and every time I think we are making progress we have another disagreement or set back. We disagree on how much of a schedule they should be on, if they should sleep in their nursery or in our room, how much help my parents should be giving. We are both in therapy but our mental health is struggling. I’m hopeful things will get better but right now they kind of suck.

Mixing issues

I’m having trouble mixing Similac Total comfort. I stir it and shake it but it just gets super foamy and still has clumps. Never had this issue with Neosure. Any suggestions? My son only gets 2 formula bottles a day so I’d rather not pay for a formula maker.

Weight loss due to pumping?

I’m 12 weeks pp with my twins and I am thankful to make plenty of milk. However, I’m a bit underweight and can’t seem to get any muscle or pounds on no matter how many calories I eat. Has anyone dealt with pumping causing too much weight loss? If you curbed your supply a bit did it help? I want to nourish my babies but my own body is struggling.

Our prenatal testing did not include zygosity testing and I’d really like to know if our di/di boys are identical. Has anyone done a cheek swab or some type of at home DNA testing?
