Restaurant closing after 8 years of employment
(Pic for fun) I am so heartbroken.
We were informed on Wednesday that the 24th will be our last day of operation. They couldn’t come to an agreement with the landlord on the rent increase for the building.
I started this job at applebees when I had just turned 17 and I turn 25 in a few months. It would’ve been my 8th year here. The only reason I’ve stayed so long is my coworkers. We are one big family that is always there for each other. We all spent the night crying and my shifts since then have been bittersweet.
Everybody at this location has been here for 10, 15, 25 even 40 years- we are all just in shock.
Being an Applebees we knew it was going to happen soon, but we expected at least a couple more years.
I am so grateful for my people and I wouldn’t take any of it back for the world. We all have the option to transfer but I don’t know it wouldn’t feel the same.
I’ve been looking for jobs since I finished school anyways but I planned to keep one shift a week and still come up a visit. This is different. Everything and everybody will be gone.
I have this group of 14-16 old folks that come in every Sunday after church and request me that I have been serving for over the last 2 years. It is going to be so heartbreaking to tell them on Sunday that this will be my last time serving them. There will be tears.
It just doesn’t feel real. I’m going to miss my managers, our cooks, my family.
This sucks.
