Please don’t judge me. I really need help to make the right decision.

I’ve had braces for 7 years, which I know is a very long time. When I first got them, I was a working student in senior high school. Now I’m still a working student in college. The main reason it took so long is because I changed dentists and had financial problems. I’ve been living alone for 6 years, supporting myself and also helping my family.

First dentist:
They had many dentists, and a different one would adjust my braces each time. I was new to this, so I decided to look for one dentist who could focus on my treatment. That’s why I left.

Second dentist:
She was nice at first, but later I felt like she was only focused on money. She kept putting the white material on my teeth every month, but it didn’t work for me, it always broke, even when I was careful. I also tried to ask about my treatment plan, but she would ignore my questions and rush to finish so she could attend to other patients. Because of that, I never clearly understood my progress. A year ago, I had a mental breakdown and also had no money, so I stopped going. Right now, I still have an overbite. I’m not blaming my dentist, I understand my situation too.

Now, I want to have my braces removed completely. I can’t afford to go back to my previous dentist because of the contract and remaining balance. I’m looking to have them removed by another dentist. Please don’t judge me, I really don’t have the money right now.

Question:

  1. Are there any health risks if I remove my braces now and stop the treatment completely?

  2. If I’m financially able in the future, is it still possible to straighten my teeth and fix my overbite? I only have one wisdom tooth left (lower), and the other three were removed years ago.
