Fan-made army builder(s), for your perusal and use

Ahoy. I made an army builder for Dropzone 3e. I'm not paid or compensated by TTC in any way, so this is totally 100% unofficial and fan-run.

https://type37.github.io/dropzone-3e-army-builder/

I'm a web designer by trade so I think that I can make something that looks nice .

Please try it out and let me know what you think. I welcome critique and feedback to make this better.

While you're at it, you should know about several other fan army builder projects.

https://skarogne.github.io/DZC_V3_ArmyBuilder/ (French only)

https://akabbeke.github.io/dropzone-builder/

https://factionbuilder.com/dzcBuilder.html

Try mine. Hell, try them all. Dont' give me feedback for the other ones, just mine though.

But yeah, let me know what you think. I don't really get to play DZC as much as I'd like (( and still don't have a DZC starter, wink wink ;) ) so I'd love some real world stress testing.

What gives away a website as fully vibe-coded?

I want to be able to present a client with like, reasons I ACTUALLY designed a site by hand, by comparing it to some bad examples.

things I can think of:

* eyebrows

  • dark mode
  • hard to read, tiny text
  • really generous spacing between components
  • horizontal scroll bars through menus (?)
  • bright left-aligned or top-aligned bars on dark backgrounds
  • Fraunces font for quirky stuff, Inter font for everything else
  • AI generated slop text (obviously) but also specifically
    • AI overexplainer text. ("Not sure what to do? Click here. Does x. Does y. Not vibe coded.")
  • IBM Blex Mono and JetBrains Mono all over the place
  • goddamn interpuncts or whatever those little dots are called
  • color scheme 1: Beige + red and brown
  • color scheme 2: purples and dark colors

I generally avoid all that shit when i'm making sites, but i see it everywhere these days and it drives me crazy!!! I just want to show my clients that like, "hey. we actually give a shit. you can just tell claude to make you a website but it'll look like This."

Xenos Rampant - Detachment Builder Web App

I made a Detachment Builder web app for Xenos Rampant.

XR is a neat game and an endearing excuse to play with your little squads of guys. I sought to solve problems with other army builders for XR by implementing:

  • A real print mode that actually has, y'know, print-friendly options. It still sucks but I'm proud of what I could do
  • A play mode for those who crave more phones in their life
  • All of the Xeno rules and all the logic for building lists
  • Progressive disclosure on all those rules
  • *Italic text* for flavor text, separating the fluff from the rules bits mid-game
  • Lots of mousover text and tooltips
  • icons to help with visual recognition, also chips and bubbles o help distinguish rules (so that you know what your unit can do for free vs having to roll to attempt it)
  • used color
  • Some premade lists

Give it a try. feel free to leave feature or feedback requests via the email form or reddit comments here :)

I built a free Dropfleet fleet builder because I wanted a Good One

ahoy! i play DFC sometimes (i wish i could play it more!) and I think the existing army building experiences are either REALLY BAD or "just fine" (shoutout to the guys maintaining the new recruit repository)

I made my own. it's a web app

  • builds proper battlegroups, tracks points, flags rares/uniques/colossal and other legality stuff so you don't accidentally cheat, hopefully. but if there are errors let me know
  • admirals (including the famous ones with their abilities + flagships), space stations, secondary objectives
  • a print mode that I'm still trying to improve
  • a collection tracker so you can punch in the models you actually own, then see what's in your collection while you build (it's optional)
  • works on your phone, works offline, your fleets save locally and you can share a list with a link! also just share the new recruit style basic list!

it's a fan project, no affiliation with TTCombat, I just wanted the thing to exist. it gets updated basically constantly.

mobile: https://type37.github.io/dropfleet-builder/mobile/

would love feedback, especially from people who actually play, tell me what's missing or annoying and I'll fix it!!! ty ty ty

I made a fleet builder for "Pacific Command" by Mike Hutchinson.

https://type37.github.io/pacific-command-builder/

I really like Pacific Command. I think it's a very odd and very interesting game that really feels like it's creating the uncertainties and difficult decisions of the WWII Pacific Theater at sea.

Is that stack of enemy poker chips three enemy task forces? Or is it a bunch of gambits that will cause me harm? Should I load up for bombing runs or interception? It's all so hard to tell and it's tough!

I made a fleet builder to help make getting the game to the table easier. You can:

-Load the (S)3 Starter Fleets
-Generate random task forces
-Add all the ships
-Choose the different Modifications (IE USN/IJN early/late war, or your own custom ones) and have it update your building options

Give it a spin. I hope you guys find it interesting! It's an exercise in web design.

I really really love Josh's works. It's interesting to hear how he plays, his ideas, how it was actually made (woohoo! twine! love using Twine https://twinery.org/ ) and asking him the absolute nerdiest and most specific questions possible
