Just had my Ashoka interview... and I can't stop overthinking it.

I had my Ashoka University interview today, and it lasted only around 15 minutes.

I was really nervous, and I think that affected the way I answered. There were a few questions where I knew what I wanted to say, but I just couldn't find the right words in the moment. Even when the interviewer rephrased one of the questions, I still struggled to explain myself clearly.

There was also a question about my strengths, and instead of saying what I actually believe reflects me, I got flustered and gave an answer that didn't really represent me at all. I walked out realizing I had said almost the opposite of what I had prepared.

The interviewer was polite, but now I'm replaying every moment in my head and wondering if I completely messed it up.

Is a 15-minute Ashoka interview normal? And if anyone here has gone through the admissions process, how much importance does the interview usually carry compared to the rest of the application?

Would really appreciate hearing about your experiences.

Is Ashoka University worth it if I want to pursue a creative career while keeping a backup degree?

I took PCM in Class 11, but when it came to JEE and CUET, I hadn't prepared well because I was genuinely unsure about what I wanted to do. As a result, I didn't score well in either.

Most people around me are suggesting I pursue B.Tech or a B.Sc., but over the past year I've realized that I'm much more interested in creative fields (writing, filmmaking, entrepreneurship, etc.). I don't want to give up on higher education, though, so I started looking into Ashoka University and its liberal arts system.

My idea is to (hopefully) get into Ashoka with a scholarship, earn a degree as a backup, explore different subjects to figure out what I truly enjoy, and at the same time spend a lot of my free time building my creative skills and working on a side hustle.

For current students or alumni:

  • Is this a realistic plan?
  • How demanding is the workload?
  • Do students have enough free time to consistently work on personal projects or businesses?
  • Looking back, do you think an Ashoka degree was worth it?

I'd really appreciate honest opinions, especially from people who've experienced Ashoka firsthand.
