Eu tenho tanta coisa pra falar sobre isso que não caberia num post...
OOP fez um textão usando como argumento o "fato" de que no Brasil tudo se parcela no cartão, enquanto em alguns países do tal primeiro mundo essa opção não existe.
Eu moro no Canadá e viajo o mundo inteiro. Em qualquer lugar do mundo você parcela o que quiser. Tem um serviço chamado Klarna que quase todo comércio eletrônico nos países desenvolvidos usa, que permite parcelar até Big Mac e que milhões de pessoas usam todos os dias. Além desse existem vários concorrentes. A Amazon norte americana tem parcelamento disponível pra todo mundo que tem o cartão dela. E o meu banco permite que eu parcele qualquer compra a partir de um certo valor, ou seja, se a loja não dá a opção o meu próprio banco vai lá e dá.
Eu acho vergonhoso as pessoas no Brasil as vezes soltam umas afirmações absurdas sobre o resto do mundo sem ter a menor noção da realidade, e mais ainda usarem esses factóides falsos pra esculhambar o Brasil. É um dos aspectos mais tristes do viralatismo.
No post original eu falei pro OOP que não é bem assim, que por aqui tudo se parcela também e que muita gente usa essa opção. Aí ele solta "é mas o poder de compra nem se compara..." Mermão, nenhum contexto e nenhuma tangente muda o fato que montou um argumento numa falácia que se desmonta com um minuto de pesquisa no Google.

Got this slight disocloration inside the front cover and this when viewed from below, other than this everything else seems fine. No delamination on the data page, no other discolorations or marks anywhere else. The chip scans fine, I checked with an app.
Could I be denied boarding when flying back to Canada from Brazil?

Gonna try to keep it short.
I live in Alberta and I was working for an employer based in Quebec. On fall last year they announced full RTO and whomever couldn't make it would be terminated.
I had been unemployed a few years ago after the pandemic and back then the job market was brutal, and I knew it was worse now but didn't expect it to be so horrible. I was sending about 20 applications per day, 7 days a week by October. Got **ONE** interview by December.
So I really made job seeking a side job. I decided to try 4 different approaches, every day focusing on one:
Reaching out to my network
Writing and sending resumes by hand, tailoring to each individual position
Writing and sending resumes with the help of AI
Letting AI do the writing and sending, reviewing only for slop and lies exxageration of my skills and certifications
In the end I ended up sending 4,211 (yes, four thousand, two hundred and eleven) applications. Roughly a bit over a thousand made on my own, another thousand and something made with the help of LLMs and the rest written by agentic AI. I wanted to know which method would work better.
In the end, between January and April I had interviews with 8 companies. Found out one was a scam (not sure if I can name and shame here). 5 companies ghosted me after interviews, mostly after multiple rounds. One was about to hire me when they lost their largest client, and then no longer had the budget. And then one hired me, I'll start with them soon.
What really hurts is that the job that I got... I didn't get it from any of the applications that I sent. A friend of mine works there and recommended me. Which means that if I ever lose this job, I might just give up applying and if I can't get some friend to help me out I'll just starve.
I work in IT BTW. Was doing research on AI (specifically about poisoning LLMs with adversarial noise). Now I'm going to work in eCom for a retail company.
Você chega no escritório e coloca seu celular numa bolsa que te impede de usá-lo. A bolsa só pode ser aberta com uma ferramenta específica que fica presa a uma parede.
É pra diminuir distrações e aumentar a "conexão" com os colegas, levando a mais "colaboração" etc etc. pra aumentar a produtividade. Mesmos argumentos usados contra trabalho remoto.
Que inferno essa timeline...
