Short Guide: Saving Wheeler and dMenu Settings

When playing Lorerim (or using the Wheeler mod), you may find that you can change Wheeler settings in the dMenu, but that the changes have no effect. There is a "Save" button on the bottom right, but it is off-screen, so you cannot press it. To resolve:

  1. In the dMenu (pagedown to open for me), go to the "Settings" tab.
  2. Uncheck "Lock Position".
  3. You can now freely resize and move the dMenu window. Do so, and tinker until you can see the "Save" button on the bottom right. Don't give up if you don't figure it out right away; it may take a minute of moving and resizing before you figure it out.

I spent an hour searching and trying to figure out a solution, and I don't think there is an answer online (at least not one that's accessible via a search engine), thus this post. Hope it helps folks in the future. Credit to an old comment on the Lorerim discord that pointed me in the right direction.

Gaming and ML PC: Please critique my build

Use: The purpose is gaming on Windows and machine learning (ML) work on Linux. The two separate SSDs are to minimize the pain of dual-booting. For gaming, I want to prioritize simulation games (e.g., Dyson Sphere Program, heavily modded KSP and Rimworld, etc.), but also want to be able to play AAA titles. ML work includes CPU-bound work, as well as GPU training that can fit in the limit of the 16GB VRAM.

Budget: Despite the compromises on RAM/SSDs/the not-top-of-line graphics card, this is a bit over what I wanted to spend, but I do have some flexibility.

Other Info: In the US. No peripherals needs.

Pc part picker list with added notes:

CPU: AMD Ryzen 9 9950X3D 4.3 GHz 16-Core Processor  ($679.00 @ Amazon)

Note: I know I could get equal gaming performance with a cheaper 8-core, but the 16-core will be good for ML work.

CPU Cooler: Thermalright Phantom Spirit 120 SE 66.17 CFM CPU Cooler  ($35.90 @ Amazon)
Motherboard: MSI MAG B850 TOMAHAWK MAX WIFI ATX AM5 Motherboard  ($194.98 @ Amazon)
Memory: Corsair Vengeance 32 GB (2 x 16 GB) DDR5-6000 CL36 Memory  ($417.18 @ Amazon)

Note: This is a huge compromise; I wanted 128-256GB, but that's far out of budget given the shortages. My plan is to upgrade the RAM if/when the shortage ends.

Storage: Western Digital WD_Black SN850X 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive  ($349.99 @ Amazon)
Storage: Western Digital WD_Black SN850X 2 TB M.2-2280 PCIe 4.0 X4 NVME Solid State Drive  ($349.99 @ Amazon)

Note: Choice is also affected by the shortages. I'll plan on adding a 3rd bigger SSD if/when the shortage ends.

Video Card: *PNY OC GeForce RTX 5070 Ti 16 GB Video Card  ($919.96 @ Amazon)

Note: I'd prefer significantly more VRAM, but this seems unrealistic given the current prices, especially if I also want great gaming performance.

Case: Fractal Design Meshify 3 ATX Mid Tower Case  ($154.99 @ Amazon)
Power Supply: Corsair RM850x (2024) 850 W Fully Modular ATX Power Supply  ($129.99 @ Corsair)
Case Fan: ARCTIC P12 Pro 77 CFM 120 mm Fan  ($8.49 @ Amazon)
