♫ I CAN MAKE YOU RIIIIGHT ♫ (Part 2)
Finally finished up my Touille alterations to get him looking a little closer to his in game model!
Minky fabric was used to embiggen his teeth, cheek ruffs, hair tufts, and ears. I also cut him open beneath his zipper and added more pvc pellets to give him a weighted feel and help him maintain his seat a little easier.
This was my first time sewing anything, ever. No sewing machine, all by hand. It's not perfect and the ears were definitely the biggest part of the challenge, but I'm happy with how I managed it, and I did everything over the original pieces, so I can always take them off and try again if I feel up to it later.
Unnecessary commentary: I've slowly been collecting some of my favorites from the Critters plushes, and I've noticed that the Smiling Critters have an easier time looking 'on model' from the game. This is because their designs are simpler, whereas characters like Touille or Simon Smoke have some additional details that I'm sure got cheaped out on in order to keep them at the same price point as the others. All the same, Rabie Baby got embroidered color blocked ears, where Touille got flat, dyed ears, so you can tell who of the critters they felt were going to sell better.
All in all, I love the Culturefly series and think they do the best at representing the PPT plush line. But I'm so used to them going the extra mile to make a plush look good (my Yarnaby is my absolute fave, he is so well crafted), that when they fall short on characters like Touille, it stands out.
Gonna be doing some improvements to Simon Smoke next, so stay tuned if you're into watching me be anal retentive about some nothingburger characters. <3
