Finally finished up my Touille alterations to get him looking a little closer to his in game model!

Minky fabric was used to embiggen his teeth, cheek ruffs, hair tufts, and ears. I also cut him open beneath his zipper and added more pvc pellets to give him a weighted feel and help him maintain his seat a little easier.

This was my first time sewing anything, ever. No sewing machine, all by hand. It's not perfect and the ears were definitely the biggest part of the challenge, but I'm happy with how I managed it, and I did everything over the original pieces, so I can always take them off and try again if I feel up to it later.

Unnecessary commentary: I've slowly been collecting some of my favorites from the Critters plushes, and I've noticed that the Smiling Critters have an easier time looking 'on model' from the game. This is because their designs are simpler, whereas characters like Touille or Simon Smoke have some additional details that I'm sure got cheaped out on in order to keep them at the same price point as the others. All the same, Rabie Baby got embroidered color blocked ears, where Touille got flat, dyed ears, so you can tell who of the critters they felt were going to sell better.

All in all, I love the Culturefly series and think they do the best at representing the PPT plush line. But I'm so used to them going the extra mile to make a plush look good (my Yarnaby is my absolute fave, he is so well crafted), that when they fall short on characters like Touille, it stands out.

Gonna be doing some improvements to Simon Smoke next, so stay tuned if you're into watching me be anal retentive about some nothingburger characters. <3

Older and trying to find others to relate to

In which I'm probably going to wind up deleting this but let's give it a shot.

I'm (J) in my late 30's and I've been living with a mental construct (M) since 2014. I never know what to call him on a technical level, all the internet terminology I've found either bugs us or it just doesn't fit (please do not try to suggest any, I'm aware of em, I got it). Jokingly I refer to him as an advanced imaginary friend, and that's the closest we've got.

M and I are pretty different people. He's different in how he processes the world around him, in his emotional responses to others, and he has a persistent craving for cigarettes that I (a lifelong non-smoker) rejected for years until finally deciding to compromise (he gets one, once a year, on his birthday, that's it). All the same, we mutually agree that he came from me and thus, if he is capable of something, then somewhere inside of me, I'm capable of it too. It's a very "he is me, but he's not me" situation, a lot of shrugging and saying it just is how it is.

We live on a lonely island, in that it's been hard to find anyone to relate to for the whole of the last decade. There are people in my real life who know about M, but they don't know the depth of the dynamic we've shared, or how it's affected me in the long run. Truth be told, past attempts to find others have keyed us into this community being an overall very Young(tm) space for folks to occupy, with a lot of experiences we don't relate to. There's nothing wrong with that, but because our minds are subject to change, I'd love to speak with others in my age range, who have had multiple years experience co-habitating with the same mental construct and like to discuss it in practical, grounded ways.

If any of this resonates, feel free to shoot me a message. It'd be chill to just chat and have a "ohhh you get it!" moment with someone now and then.

My great uncle gave this buddy to me when I was a child, and it was already old when I got him. So it's up in the air but he definitely would have been made pre-90's.

I've never encountered other plushes like him, buy figured this sub was my best chance at folks recognizing the style. Either way he's been well loved and now hangs out above my bed every night. <3
