Recommendations for remote, dark sky camping in England during late spring/early summer.

I know England doesn’t have many remote places (I go to Scotland for that) but I would like to know the most remote places where you have a truly dark sky with the best chance at seeing the stars in late spring/early summer. Preferably a place with hills/mountains. I’ve heard Northumberland is pretty good.

Can you bring pemmican into the UK?

Greetings,

I am a hiker/backpacker/wild camper who often likes to visit the beautiful national parks of the UK, especially Scotland.

I make my own pemmican using a food dehydrator, it is a Native American survival food made with beef fat and dried beef (along with other stuff that can be added in such as dried fruit and grains). I like to use it as a nutrient dense and shelf stable food on my backpacking and camping trips.

I know that there are strict laws about bringing in meat products into the UK via air travel for personal consumption.

I am wondering if it’s possible for me to bring my homemade pemmican into the UK for my next backpacking trip for my own personal consumption? Or do you think it will get me in trouble?

So I have OS Maps OL 57. Its a map of Cairn Gorm & Aviemore. Aviemore lies in the North Sheet. If I do the calculations correctly, the grid magnetic angle in 2026 should be:

0 degrees 06' minutes west - (14' x 4) (subtracting because the annual change is to the east and not further west) = 0 degrees 50 minutes' east

However, when I check various websites, it says that the declination is west. What am I getting wrong here?
