First 44 magnum loads

First hand loaded 44 magnum rounds turned out pretty good. 180g hornady ftx, 29g of Lil gun. Out of a 5.5 inch ruger vaquero talo. Missed the first 2 shots on camera but the velocities were, low 1699, high 1752 with an extreme spread of 53 and a standard deviation of 19.7 those little guys were scooting

Well, dialed in my hunting load. 854fps for this particular round. Pretty good expansion compared to my last test. Widest part .845

45lc updats

So after switching brass, adjusting crimp and increasing powder, im getting more consistent speeds as well as accuracy out of my loads. Thanks everyone for all of the advice. Now to work on a hunting load, have 4 separate powder measurements made up, water tested one and got terrible expansion out of a speer deep curl 250g. That was my lowest charge though, so we'll see how the rest go next weekend.

What's everyone's go to bullet for range plinking? I've been using hsm 250g rnfp, but it doesn't seem to go too fast. Go-to powders? Loads?

Newer reloaded here. Does anyone have advice for getting more consistent velocities out of my hand loads? My normal loads are 250g lead rfn with 6.5 grains of powder, I get anywhere between 640-720 fps. Is that normal? Thanks in advance. Loading 45 long colt btw.

Going to be trying to get a whitetail this year with my el patron 45 colt this year. Playing with hand loads to get something dialed in. Wish me luck!
