Do I need a garage to own a chopper?
I want a chopper so bad but I feel like the resources around the chopper are just as necessary, such as having a garage. I don’t own a house, is that gonna hold me back from working on my bike?

So I bought this bike in prob like 2013 most of the bike was disassembled in boxes. The owner in roseville or Rocklin in northern california had bought a new top end..found out it was the flywheels
and gave up. I had a guy rebuild the bottom end in Fairfield or vacaville. Had another guy finish the topend he had a shop off arden in sac really nice guy. Had a shop in sac off Auburn Blvd get it running. All other work I did myself. I have a little bit of a hod rod background.. had a 97 cobra, a 76, and 01 camaro on a 75hp shot, 2 c10's, couple tuned up toyotas and a subaru and a 88 4runner... So im not a total nucklehead..It's my first bike. I replaced the neck bearings, wheel bearings, swing arm bearings...though im sure I could have done better on the front forks i stripped the bolt that goes up the forks from the bottom but it got sent.. Lowered it front and rear, new lepera seat, changed the bars, painted the frame, bought a rear fender and had it painted, front and rear brakes, newer levers, thats all i can remeber now .... I don't know what my next move is. Thought I would ask yall opinion on the next move forward. Thought I could sell it for maybe $2500. It's sat for probably 5yrs. Gonna need some work. I rode it a bunch during covid..it pretty much sat sence then. I love working on it almost more than riding it as i don't have alot of riding experience. If I could find someone with experience in northern California that could take me under their wing and help me go through the bike with me and make it as reliable and safe as possible that would be great. I understand that might sound dumb i get that its and old harley.
I don’t think he uses reddit lol but I painted the tank and fender to match (the best I could) to the existing frame
My buddy is a custom fabricator based out of Ontario, Canada

I love getting the "hey man, your shit's ready, come get it!" calls 😃
Covered by Winchester Upholstery in middle TN. Really quick turnaround (under 3 weeks) & great price.
I couldn't be happier with how it turned out!
Okay, so I’m getting my motorcycle license soon, and the whole reason I started in the first place was because I dreamed of owning a Honda Steed 400. But recently, I suddenly had this epiphany about what it actually means to own an “old” bike, and now I’m worried I might regret spending a lot of money on a 33-year-old motorcycle.
A lot of the motorcycle dealers I’ve talked to have told me that they can’t guarantee that a Steed can be a reliable long-term bike, especially for things like daily commuting and stress-free riding. They’ve mentioned possible issues like carburetor problems and age-related maintenance. What scares me is that I barely see people talking about these problems online, so it’s hard to tell whether they’re actually rare or if people just don’t mention them much.
As a backup plan, I’ve also been considering the new Honda Rebel 300 in case it ends up winning me over compared to the Steed.
But nothing beats the open road bruthers. We did about 800 clicks this trip with 10 to 12 bikes. Lots of breakdowns, lots of fun.
I'm chopping a 78 xs650. Running points and stock stator and a reg/rec. Bought it stock and rewired it. I can start it and it will run for about 5 minutes and then the lights get very dim and the bike dies and I can't start again unless I jump it or leave it for a while. Tested my stator and it checks out. Battery is new but jumps to 17 volts with a throttle blip. Yesterday with just the ignition on the reg rec started smoking. I think all my wiring is correct. No blown Fuses and I checked all the connections. Was it just my reg rec that was bad and finally took a big shit yesterday when it started smoking or is it more likely to be the wiring that I fucked up somewhere. It's kick only by the way so I only have like 4 wires.
I'm still waiting on the plater & upholsterer, but I'm getting there with the paint. I stripped & cleaned up the motor, adding a few shiny, twiddly bits. The frame is done, oil tank is topcoated & I'm starting on the gas tank tomorrow. Hopefully, I'll have it all back in one big, noisy piece by the end of June! 😃
Got a 05 egc with a 26 inch front wheel and full air ride in on trade and doing a full custom build. Looking to lay frame. Got questions about different safety concepts. I have seen a couple different latch type systems. Also would love a schematic for modifying the swingarm. Considering a 1.5 or 2 inch extension during the modifying to clear for the tire rather than the battery box/ fender style frame changes.
I just bought this 1971 Shovelhead and I have no idea what frame it’s got. There aren’t any markings at all that I can find other than the VIN Stamp issued by my state when the bike was titled by a previous owner.
Anyone have any idea what it might be?
2nd ever chopper build. A friend of mine rescued this poor this from a Detroit backyard. I got the chance to buy it and bring it north with me and return it back to its glory. Hard to believe it’s even the same bike
Hey everyone!
I was wondering if you could help me out.😀
I’m planning to buy my first used chopper/cruiser bike, limited to 35kW. At the moment I’m mostly looking at bikes like the Honda Shadow, Yamaha Virago, Yamaha DragStar, and similar styles.
I do prefer having a shaft drive instead of a chain drive, mainly because it requires less maintenance, no chain lubrication, and less mess overall.
Which models would you personally recommend for a beginner cruiser/chopper rider? And which model years are generally considered the most reliable or best overall?
First time posting on Reddit, hope I’m doing this right 😄
Thanks in advance!
Took my KZ400 out for her first ride at the weekend.
