Moccamaster In Popular Culture

With the Moccamaster being so damn iconic and around for nearly 6 decades - has anyone seen one in a TV show, music video or a film?

Just curious.

Random People and Random Moments

That’s what I love about festivals! Especially meeting a group to team up with your group and just dance the night away. Shout out to Maria, Emma and Doreen whom we met on the Saturday night at ATN. Same vibe as us and we all danced our hearts out in The Big Romance Dome 💕

Anyone else got random moments with random people they’d like to share?

Anyone else had trouble getting Sport Ireland to respond to a complaint?

I want to lay this out because I'm genuinely unsure what to do next, and I think other people who use the spa there should know this is going on. I've added a table of events here but here's more detail...

On 2nd June, the 3 men were in the changing rooms being loud and racist, at one point saying "that black c*nt at reception probably took it" in reference to a gold chain that had gone missing. Loud enough that plenty of people heard it. I did not report it but it stuck with me for a while after. I was pissed off too because I go there for a bit of peace and quite but having to be subjected to these inconsiderate pric...men was really annoying and most of what they talked loudly about was inappropriate.

On 22nd June, I was in the sauna at the National Aquatic Centre with about five other men and one woman. The same 3 men came in and immediately a few people left (I got the sense they knew what was coming). They started being loud and obnoxious in a way that felt designed to intimidate everyone else in there. It included racist remarks and a rant about right wing politics aimed at the diversity of elected representatives in Irish cities, with specific derogatory comments about Asian people. At one point an Asian woman in the sauna, who wasn't engaging with any of it, was directly addressed by one of them, asked if she "knew anything about the situation." She looked confused, or maybe pretended to be, and left shortly after. The men laughed. One of them then went on a whole thing about the country being in its "final hours" and how we all "need to stand up now." He was spouting on about "lefty liberals" too. It had the feel of a guy performing for an audience, and the rest of us just had to sit there and listen.

I reported it in person straight away to the manager on duty and followed up with a detailed written complaint that evening. I heard nothing back. I sent a polite follow up email three days later just asking for confirmation it had even been received. Nothing. I called on the 29th and asked for a callback. Never got one. On 7th July I emailed the Operations Manager directly, by name, laying out the whole thing again. That went unacknowledged too. On 13th July, I went a step further and emailed the Chief Operating Officer directly by name, quoting the Centre's own Code of Conduct and Customer Charter back at them. Still nothing, two days on.

It's now the 15th of July, over three weeks since my original report, and across two emails, a follow up, a phone call, an email to the Operations Manager, and a direct email to the Chief Operating Officer, I have had zero acknowledgment from the Centre at any point. Not even a "we've received this."

I've also sent a further escalation email to Sport Ireland itself, referencing the full timeline and quoting their own Customer Charter, which commits to acknowledging complaints within 36 hours and giving a full written response within 5 working days.

Honestly, I've always been the keep quiet, head down type of guy but I have a daughter now and it's when people like me say or do nothing that we give permission to these people to do and say what they like and that is not good enough. The centre has a code of behaviour/membership terms and conditions that these men breached so it is not like they are powerless. While I don't agree with their points of view I respect everyone's right to a view and an opinion but I do not agree with subjecting everyone to that opinion in an area like a spa where people come for peace and quiet.

Has anyone else had experiences like this at the NAC, or dealt with getting a state run facility to actually take a complaint seriously? Part of why I'm posting is I don't want to just let this go quiet.

What’s it like to be in a relationship with someone else who’s aware of their shadow?

I am curious. A relationship with another person who is integrating their shadow or is “shadow aware” - I’d imagine that is a deep, meaningful relationship. I’m on the journey inward but my wife is the type of person who likes being distracted and really dislikes her own company or being alone, so it’s unlikely that she’ll ever go inward that deep.

Anyone got any experience of this? As I say, I’m just curious and maybe a bit jealous being honest.

Steaming Milk With The Barista Pro

Hi folks,

I always steamed milk in the usual way, let some air in, tilt etc. my wove then told me she gets nicely textured milk without tilting and instead leaving the jug on the drip tray. I just tried this, let in some air and then just let it in the drip tray. While it came up to temp I prepared for the next shot. I was surprised, milk was textured and no bubbles.

Anyone else find this? Perhaps I’ve been doing it wrong all along! The wife said that the machine they have in their office, an Oracle or some such, does it this way too.

My Office Setup

Just posting my office setup. Super psyched! I also have a clever dripper, Aeropress and Picopresso. This set up though will be my daily driver I’d imagine, already getting consistently nice results. My coworkers do not understand…but hey, that’s their loss.
