improving but need help interpreting + gathering information
600hrs, just a mediocre gold at the game, i consistently get ~7-10 kills per game. I was playing today after a break and was having very hit and miss comp games and was getting screwed. I was frustrated I just can’t get kills and felt “unlucky” and didn’t know how teammates would get 20+ kills a match.
I watched some vids on YT of advice as i struggle on both sides (CT feels like the never come to me so low kills, T side feels like it’s just “rush site, get stopped by utility, die. Run into wall and pray and team doesn’t default)
I decided to solely play Mirage as I like it and feel it’s a good mid tier map with mobility to help me learn the fundamentals to then apply to other maps (I already have good crosshair placement, decent spray control, and counter-strafing)
I applied what I learned of playing positions (I mainly play Cat) and being aggressive but peeking smart and I was getting decent kills and also starting to default better which helped- but what I really tried to apply was my game sense. I realized I always read about “CS is about info” and I never stopped to actually think and do that, I just react. So I tried to listen to utility, mini-map, etc and I noticed some improvements, but I feel i’m still struggling.
Mainly it’s what info is the most important and how do I interpret it. Like I see/hear utility but I struggle on how I should process and apply it, like if 2 flashes are thrown I know there’s minimum two near me but what now? (If that makes sense, like some pros can hear utility, see where a player was spotted, and figure out where the enemies are split and what’s weak and strong and where they will rotate from)
Pretty much just need help on taking common scenarios like utility, movement, where people die and where enemies are spotted, guesstimating where the enemies are split at and learning how I should analyze it to figure out how to push, what’s weak and what’s strong areas. (Because I can hear the utility, hear the footsteps, see where a enemy was spotted on map, but I just am new to figuring out how to use that to my advantage and what it all means)
What do you look for and then how do you play around it
Thank you.
