first time trying russian caravan

admittedly, i bought it because i loved the tin, and because i was adopted from russia and love to explore anything even remotely related to russia—not because of the smell. i actually hate the smell and have been putting off trying it until today… but i love it! it’s milder than i was expecting, and (to me) kinda tastes like a nutty black tea.

what is everyone’s favorite way to prepare russian caravan? so far, i’ve only had it completely plain! :D

sad :(

i’ve been to this tea shop in kyoto before and i am absolutely in love with their hojicha. i ordered this set and i got an email from them explaining all of the extra fees i would have to pay for shipping to the us ($16 + duties on top of the extra $20 i’ve initially paid for shipping). i replied saying id like to cancel my order—shipping is just too expensive :( im so sad, i rly love this tea!! :((

nothing else to say, im just bummed :(

grad school as an english major?

hi all! i'm a senior english major and russian lit minor right now and i've been questioning whether or not i want to go to grad school. i love english, but i am not passionate enough about it to pursue a masters in this field. id rather not get a masters at all, actually, but my dad is pressuring me to right after i graduate, and i feel like the job market is so bad that i dont have much of a choice. i also feel like grad school might be a good idea to boost my chances of getting a job in the future.
i dont want to go to grad school just to go, though, as i know its generally a bad idea to go on a whim. ive been considering teaching, library sciences, and museum studies as potential grad school fields, but im still a little stuck. i dont feel like im passionate enough about these to fully dedicate myself. in addition, i dont have any internship experience/job experience related to my major (but i do have lots of job experience in general, and am working currently), and i feel like that would really hurt my chances at admission.
does anyone have any advice? :,)

uk pottery haul!

i recently got back from studying abroad in london + traveling around the UK, and i got some tea pottery from local shops and potters—i just wanted to show everybody! :D i’ve already used the teapot and the mug on the left and they are awesome!!

the teapot was made in japan but i got it at an awesome local tea shop in london called postcard teas. the owner is lovely, has a great selection of teas, and sells pottery! really highly recommend <3

what do you use to organize your tea?

i’ve amassed quite the collection of loose leaf tea/tea bags in tins and boxes, and would like a cart or a shelf to display them on—ideally where i can also brew tea with an electric kettle. what are your tea setups? any recs? thanks!

never been in a relationship—what do i do?

hi everyone :,) i feel a little pathetic posting on reddit for advice, but i genuinely feel like im at my limit. for context, im a 23 year old woman starting her senior year of university.

ive never been in a relationship before, and ive never had sex before. its gotten to the point where i feel immensely depressed whenever i think about this and the state of my romantic and sexual life. i try to distract myself with other things, tell myself im just a late bloomer, and refrain from being jealous of/around my taken friends (ALL of them are in relationships)—but it feels like nothing is working anymore. i really don’t know what im doing wrong. i don’t think im ugly. i maintain a good hygiene routine. im passionate, and i have hobbies and goals. i have a fine sense of fashion (i say fine because i generally tend to dress in casual clothing, like sweaters, blouses, and jeans, but i usually look cute and put together i think!). but no matter what i think of myself, and no matter what i do, i have never been able to form a lasting romantic connection with anyone i am interested in. because ive been single for so long, too, i don’t feel confident enough in myself, my body, or my experience to go out and pursue purely sexual relationships with anyone, either. at this point i feel like im a lost cause, and im going to be single and inexperienced for the rest of my life.

the people ive confided in about this always tell me that i’ll “find someone”—but when is this supposed to happen? and how? i’ve tried dating apps, and have only had awful experiences through them. i’m not keen on going to clubs and bars, either; i’ve tried it, and it’s just not my scene. when i go out places during the day, or when im in class, i try to be friendly and open to new experiences and interactions, but nothing ever comes of it. i feel like ive exhausted every option out there for me.

long story short, i don’t know what to do. has anyone been in this situation or has advice generally? :,) thank you all for listening <3

confused about pass/no pass

hi everyone! i just have a quick question about pass/no pass at berkeley. just to be clear, im not allowed to pass/no pass any major requirements, but i can pass/no pass minor requirements, right?

how does pass/no pass work over the summer? am i allowed to pass/no pass the only class im taking over the summer, even if its a course im taking for study abroad (offered through berkeley, not another university)?

thanks everyone!

is an honors thesis more impressive than a minor?

hi everyone, i'm in a bit of a dilemma and some opinions on this would be great. i'm an english major and minoring in russian literature, and i've been debating about applying for the honors program (which obviously involves writing an extremely lengthy thesis). i don't have room for both the honors program and the russian lit minor—i have to choose one or the other, as i'm graduating next year and wouldn't have the time nor the schedule leniency for both.
what looks better on a resume/what is more effective in securing work post-grad? does anyone have any insight on this?

thank you :,)

▲ 1 r/sleep

hello everyone :,) i’ve been having constant, extremely visceral nightmares for days in a row that will wake me up every 2-3 hours. they also spike my anxiety condition, which makes it even harder to get proper rest. it’s finals season for me at my uni so maybe it’s stress, but i’m not really sure what i can do to help with my sleep. does anyone have any tips? thank you
