Want to play/learn Hockey - where to start?

Hi all! I’ve completely fallen in love with hockey over the last year, especially during the playoffs (go Canes!), and decided that I’d love to start playing!

I’m 23F and consider myself pretty athletic. I’ve never played before, but I can skate comfortably at a public skate for an hour without falling. I know my skating will definitely need work, but I’m not starting completely from scratch.

I’m signing up for a women’s Learn to Play program in September, and my goal is to join either a women’s or coed league afterward!

Between now and September, what should I be focusing on to set myself up for success? I’m willing to put in the work!

A few questions:

• Should I spend most of my time improving my skating, or should I also work on stickhandling/shooting off the ice? How do I go about that as someone who’s never touched a hockey stick? 😂
• Any gear recommendations for a complete beginner? I’m left-handed if that matters!
• Anything you wish someone had told you before your first season?
• Any YouTube channels or resources you’d recommend?
• Also, if you started playing as an adult, I’d love to hear what your first year was like and anything you wish you’d done differently. :)

Thanks so much! I’m super excited and up for the challenge!!!

What went wrong?

Hi friends. I brought my Mamiya 7ii to a hockey game. I shot 1.5 rolls and the first was on portra 400. The second was on Cinestill 800T. I set my exposure when I swapped rolls and was shooting on full Auto wide open at f/4. What went wrong with these? Was this a bad batch of film?

First 2 images are of the 800T roll. 3rd is of the roll that had no issues.

Does anyone have a pair of these grip socks laying around that they’d be open to selling? I got covid like halfway through the greatness within challenge 2 years ago and wanted these socks so bad but couldn’t finish the challenge for obvious reasons. Didn’t get any of the new ones before they sold out & like these better. Ty! :)

Hi all! My mom is helping me move, and Nashville is the halfway point of our drive so we’ve decided to make a weekend trip out of it since it’ll be Mother’s Day weekend.

Does anyone have any spa recommendations? I’m looking to pamper her :)

I’m taking her to see the Eagles, and am trying to come up with an itinerary for Sunday. Thinking brunch and a spa. Would love to hear any recommendations, thank you!!!🥰
