no charge for ATO payments for a year?

no charge for ATO payments for a year?

Can someone in the know confirm -

Tax payments now are not going to have any credit card charge (due to the surcharge ban)

And the ATO put a hold on their decision to remove credit card as a payment option for a year.

So I could get this card https://www.westpac.com.au/business-banking/credit-cards/rewards-cards/altitude-platinum/ and pay my business BAS payments and rack up the points, cancel before end of first year?

Super re-investment strategy

When I hit 60, I will likely have a chunk of ETF money outside super, and maybe around $1m in today's dollar's in super. My understanding is when I hit 60 I convert the super to account based pension and all the withdrawals and earnings are tax free. Each year, I'm forced to withdraw some minimum % which rises as I get older.

The outside super ETFs will likely last me say 5 years selling those down progressively without having to spend any of the super money.

Does it make more sense to sell those down first and re-contribute the super draw downs back to the super fund which is taxed at nothing? Or should I spend the super draw downs/take out more from super since its tax free and keep the ETFs unsold as long as possible (spending the super month first since its all tax free withdrawals Vs the ETFs that are going to have CGT as I sell them down)?

Ideas for coast fire jobs

Early 40's, starting to think about the next stage.

Some ideas I've been kicking around for coast fire jobs to make pocket money, would love to get other people's experiences and ideas though.

What makes a good coast fire job?

- Easy to do/easy to get

- Low stakes/low pressure

- Flexibility

- Where possible, alignment to things I like to do (like going on long walks)

Thinking about:

- postman

- contract parcel delivery (haven't looked deeply but I think there's something with companies that work with Amazon and other companies and they pay per package)

- landscaping (assistant level as I don't really know shit about it) / basically gardening for the local council - not really sure if this is a thing. Cleaning up, trimming, maintaining etc local parks, nature reserves

- store assistant at somewhere chill to work in like a Dymocks, gifts shop

Business Vs Personal Cards

I've been churning cards for sometime but as I primarily run a business which I pay myself with dividends and don't have a job working for an employer, I always apply for business cards which I get accepted no issue (despite a pretty agressive churn schedule).

Now that everything is 24 month cool downs, I assume theres no point trying my luck applying for the non-business cards right as a way to get more sign up bonuses? I'm not getting through as I don't have a normal wage. I have plenty of income through my company dividends and other dividends though

Really no 2x reward business seats available?

I'm looking at bangkok to sydney sometime next year and if I do business class, reward points for 1 person, there's flights on almost every day in the month I'm looking at via Philippines airlines.

But if I change it to 2 people, there's literally 0 flights available.

Is there really only 1 business seat left available on each of these flights?

Or they don't want me to book 2x reward business at the same time? So what if I book 1 ticket first, then a seperate ticket afterwards?

Entering Early Retirement - Winding Down Company Holding Cash

Early 40s. Looking at calling it quits soon.

I have been running a pty ltd company (I'm the sole director/owner), that has about $350k in its bank account accumulated from retained profits.

Each year I've been paying myself a modest dividend from it. I seperately get about $50k in taxable income from personal dividends via various shares/ETFs I own outside the company.

There's no point looking at selling it. There will be no buyers, the niche for what I did is fading, there's little moat or assets in the company worthwhile to anyone.

I pay an accountant and company fees a couple grand per year to maintain the company admin stuff.

I can pretty easily wind down operations because a lot of the revenue is dependent on me actively doing stuff to get new customers (which isn't easy).

I will be getting formal advice, but wanted to get general thoughts so I'm better armed in those conversations.

If I distribute all the cash this financial year, then I'm going to have personal taxable income over $400k including my ETF dividends.

Is there any issue if the company isn't making anymore revenue, I keep it open and distribute the cash over several financial years eg take out $60k over a number of years?
