Hello, I am in the process of building a camping trailer. I have a rooftop tent that I am mounting to these white bars, underneath there is space for a 4’x75”x14” box build as sealed trailer storage. I have 3D printed a pocket hole jig, we will see how that goes. I am buying AC2 treated plywood sheets for the outer box materials and 1”x1”x8’ boards to line the seams of the box with to help strengthen the structure. Is that overkill? How would you do it differently? Any constructive feedback is welcomed!
Hello all,
I graduated with a BS in Comprehensive Geology in Dec 2019, had a MS in hydrogeology lined up for the next Fall but, alas, Covid changed everything. I was offered a stable gov sub prime contracting GIS role and my dreams went to die for $50k/yr. A friend from college has been with a regional environmental company since 2021 and put in a good word for me, as I am just stagnant in my GIS role and my brain is so bored it’s not worth joking about. Thankfully, I just got a call and have an interview next Thursday for a Remediation role!
I have some land surveying experience, but 95% of my post graduate work is in GIS data production, save a bedrock geology mapping project I did in the bighorn mountains. I still have a lot of my geologic knowledge but not using the vocabulary and jargon, I definitely can’t talk like I am educated on the subject.
Do you have any advice or resources that I can review over the next week to re-familiarize myself with the language, but also to educate myself on the roles and responsibilities of a remediation scientist? I am eager to make change happen and get back onto the path of becoming a professional geologist, and I am ready to make this change happen now.
Thank you for taking the time to read my post, any constructive feedback would be invaluable!
Hey All,
Looking at a 2014 SR5 V6 4x4 right now for sale, 220,000 miles for $13,500. It does come with off-road front and rear bumper, there are also several panels that show signs of damage and the steering wheel is…peeling?
I am interested in this truck but wanted to see if there are any owners of similar trucks with this many miles, do you think this truck would be worth the investment? I think that’s a great price given what tacomas normally go for, but 220,000 is naturally worrisome. Any advice here on what to check when I look at the vehicle?
What do you guys think? Any advice is appreciated:)
Hi all, looking to have a 4x8 trailer weighed. Anyone have knowledge of where this can be done in town? Thanks!
Hi All,
I am currently planning a trip from the Midwest through the Rockies, to Moab, and back through the Rockies and home. I have a 2020 Forester Premium with 96k miles and I have no other options for towing on this trip. I bought the trailer in the picture with a smoker on it for a good price, removed the smoker, and have added a 176 pound RTT on top. I do not know total weight yet but will have it weighed before I make up my mind on this trip.
Okay, those are the details, now the question: Does anyone have experience pulling a 4x8 utility trailer with a RTT on it through the Rocky Mountains? I have read numerous reports that I should add a CVT cooler, and I am definitely leaning toward doing so, but I wanted to get any experience or opinions from the group as I am about a month out from this trip.
Any constructive feedback is extremely valuable, inb4 “don’t tow with it” crowd shows up, there are plenty of posts on this subreddit of people towing 2000+ with no signs of damage to their car, and I am trying to keep this as light as possible. Thank you
