Is the leather on this dry, overly stiff and fragile? It looks and feels that way to me. Beyond saving?

Heat Stamp/Embossed logo Dooney, not green tag

I asked seller if this was a usable bag and if the leather was fragile. They responded that it is very usable and very pliable. When I asked them about the dryness/stiffness today they tell me the bag was listed at a lower grade than what they told me before and that it needs to be used and handled to soften up.

Is what they say true that it will soften over time? I’m thinking these cracks will get worse with use. Almost like this bag was never used and forgotten about, sadly.

Is this just the nature of these bags? I’ll admit it is my first of this style. I know it’s supposed to be on the stiff side, but HOW stiff?

Can’t do any testing because I may return this. Worth having a leather shop look at it maybe?

Anyone familiar with vintage bridle leather?

Concerns about small cracking in areas
Are these signs that it wasn’t taken care of and I should return it?

I specifically asked the seller if the leather was fragile because I’m purchasing this to use, not put on a shelf and they said “great condition leather is very pliable” but this seems dry and any bend seems like it would cause another crack.

I just purchased this vintage red satchel and it feels off. Want to make sure it’s authentic.

I am comparing it to my TWO auth navy/black ones here are the differences I note:

The navy ones don’t have cut tag, red tag is cut (might explain the differences?)
Stitching more yellow on the red
Leather trim cheaper feeling on the red
Red bag is taller but same width
The buckle on red crossbody strap is stamped horribly
Stitching on straps are different

Everything else is generally the same
Duck logo is sewn on, hardware grommets inside stamped Dooney
Interiors the same on all besides cut tag

Is the red just a cheaper made outlet bag?? Need to know so I can return if it’s fake. Tbh a really good fake if it is. I paid too much for this to be fake though 😂

Also, I cut strips of plain printer paper and taped the outside with regular scotch tape for the tassels for storage. I love how it’s working ♥️

I used to collect vintage Dooney about 10 years ago and this surge in popularity has me looking at them again.
Wanted to warn anyone shopping on eBay because I feel like I see more AWL fakes on there than I do real.

(Btw I have a question for the experts at the bottom)

I messaged a seller selling a VERY obvious fake vintage Coach bag and while I was polite they were very rude and denied it with a fake back story on how it was real. So I reported it and even though eBay said there was no issue it scared the seller into taking it down, thankfully. Got a few more angry messages after that, even called me jealous.

I could practically make a full time job out of messaging the sellers with the fake Dooneys, there’s so many of them it just isn’t worth it. Many of them don’t even know themselves.

Just wanted to give a warning to anyone shopping for vintage Dooney on eBay 💛

With that said, I am no expert. Attached is a pic of the bags that started my collection (they were a gift from an older friend cleaning out her closet many years ago)

Did these bags come in both black and navy with the brown trim? I always thought these were all navy but now I am unsure 🙈 the picture definitely makes them look more black than they do in person. Maybe they’re just faded?

Melo needs help

Just brought this stinky boy inside from his patio vacay.

My first and only Alocasia, was a bday gift about 2 years ago.
He got a lil leggy until I put em in that window and then the blooms.

Still in original pot and all I do is water with well water.
Plus the literal skewers to keep it upright.

What’s my next move? I’m clueless since joining this group. The whole chop and start over makes me nervous 😥

Edit: sorry for the confusion, I’d like to know if I should leave it, repot? Maybe convince my partner I need a grow light? 😀 it was the flowers that smelled so bad to me but now it’s fine.
